Mountain Biking - bottles?

Ok, I'm tired of the plastic taste the generic water bottles give my water. Has anybody found a good way to get rid of this or found a bottle that doesn't have it?
I noticed Nalgene makes a bike bottle. For those of you who have used it, is it as strong as their regular bottles? Also, it looks like it has a different nozzle than regular bottles. Do you find it conveniant to use while riding one-handed?

I am guessing you don't like camlebacks...I dropped using a water bottle years ago...

I did try the nalgene and I can't comment on confort of using because I hate water bottles but there is no plastic taste.

If you haven't tried a camelback that might be a good idea.

As far as bottles go I have used schwinn and nike bottles as well as cheapo generic bottles and I usually never experience a plastic taste. Atleast not after I rinse them out several times.

I like Specialized water bottles. They have a soft valve that's easy on the teeth and also, in my opinion, the quality of the valve has a lot to do with how much of the "plastic taste" you get. I never experience that with these bottles. The valves have more of a rubbery feel. They're inexpensive (about 5 bucks each) and real durable; I've been using the same ones for six years and they're still in great condition. I have a camelbak, but I prefer the bottles.

Nalgene makes theirs from Lexan, which I don't believe has any taste. They make really high quality water bottles... great if you use them often enough to justify the price. I own a few.. very nice bottles. And now they come in cool colors :o

I've been pretty happy with Specialized bottles too and have been using them almost exclusively for the past 15 years. I don't go out of my way to buy them either. I usually come by water bottles either as a gift from the LBS when I make a big purchase ("Hey, grab yourself a free water bottle on the way out") or because I forgot to bring one along in the first place and the Specialized bottles seem to be prolific. While I do ride with a Camelbak because my frame only accepts one bottlecage and I also like the space in the 'bak to store other things, I am still a big believer in water bottles. Even if I don't drink from them, they're handy for washing out cuts and impromptu showers.

Zefal make a allow water bottle, it should not have that plastic taste.

We use a yellow nalgene bottle in our hiking gear (over night in the tent) . I don't know if it has a plastic taste or not... guess what the yellow bottle is used for :)
We do use nalgene wide mouth bottles for water though and they do not have a plastic taste at all.

I had a bad plastic taste in the new bladder for my camelback, and the missus washed it out with lemon juice and bi-carbonate of soda. Taste gone :)

Ive been using a camelback for 2 -3 years now and its great.

I am using alloy bottles. You wan't squezze them (ok. you can do it but it would require some strength and it wan't come back to its previous form). You don't have the plastic taste, but the wather goes slower. After few rides it doesn't look that good.

But steel I think it is a good choice. I don't like camel bags as after some use of it - there is some jelly sh*t inside of it and it is hard to clean this.

I like Specialized water bottles the best too. They have the best nozzle and seem to work best.

I use only the Nalgene with the nipple cover and have been using them for years, there is no taste and the crap stays off the nipple. the o-ring seal in the nipple dosen't leak so if they end up laying down in the trunk bag they won't leak.

All my bottles are Specialized and I concur with my contemporaries

Well the Nashbar bottles I just bought (6 of them) suck. They leak from the screw on cap. I got them for $1.50 so it's not too bad of a loss. Gonna have to try out some specialized ones
