What a great bike forum. Just kind of ran into it while surfing. My bike history is kind of all over the map. About 20 years ago I used to commute 7 miles one way on my Tour Easy recumbent about 2-3 days per week in the spring in summer. I don't commute now because I am a school nurse working at 6 schools. About 10-15 years ago I did some self-supported touring on the recumbent and a hybrid with a buddy who no longer lives in the same state. We did trips mostly on the northern coast of California. The longest trip we took was a ride from Burney to Sacramento. Have not been on a bike tour for at least 8 years or more. I want to get back into it though. My buddy and I will do a coast-to-coast trip when we retire.

After a few years of not riding much I joined the local Team in Training triathlon team and bought a road bike so I could go fast! Have not ridden the recumbent since. The thing is 23 years old and still has all the original stuff on it (cables, chain, etc)! Someday I will buy a more comfortable seat and replace the components and ride it again. Right now I am really enjoying riding my Fuji Newest (low end but I've passed guys on $2,000 bikes in triathlons.) I really love riding in my aerobars.

This past summer my buddy and I rode the Seattle to Portland with 9000 other folks. What a great ride! We rode 120 the first day and 80 the second. I didn't do much training for it (long rides of 40, 50, and 60 miles) but did very well. I recommend this event to anyone who loves to ride.

My riding goal for next year is to bump up my average speed during triathlons. I've done several sprint and Olympic distance races and 2 half iron races. Tri's are fun but require lots of training.

I want to buy a new touring bike and may try on the the week long Adventure Cycling Association trips next summer. Might be hard to swing the bike because I have 2 kids in college but I'm gonna try hard!

Looking foreward to this forum.
