Introductions - Yet Another Newbie from Wa State

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey Gang,
After lurking here for the last week or two, I felt I was getting too much good information to not participate. Thanks All!
Lifelong biker, but been seriously getting back into it the last 3 years. Started commuting to work to get back into shape after a few years as a cubicle monkey (those free soda's get you every time) and now am yearning for touring. I ride a Novara Safari, as of today that is! Big upgrade from my late 80's Specialized Rock Hopper I've been using. I like a lot so far, but not enough miles yet to really say too much about it.
cheers,
Robert

I'll be doing the two-day. I don't want to treat it as a race which is how the one-day turns out to be unless you really enjoy riding on roads with 60MPH traffic in the dark. I think that you really don't have time to stop and enjoy yourself or take in the sights if you do it in one day.

Hey :)
Just recently joined myself... can't seem to stay away there's so much good info on here.
I'm sure you'll find plent of good stuff.
Robert,
Can you tell me more about your Novara Safari? I am interested in the bike but the REI stores near me do not stock them.
How do you like the trekking handlebars? In the photos the shifters look pretty close together (too close).
Thanks.
John
