Mountain Biking - I think Ive gone loony (opinons plz)

You know that feeling when your in love with some hot chick, that feeling in your stomach? Well Ive never had that feeling but Im feeling it now. That is for yet another bike.........

As I said in the other post, I had such a blast doing drops this weekend, and it became apparent that a new and bigger bike would do the job better. Do you think its smart to be dropping 5 feet on an enduro?? Thing is, im not really afraid to go biger, Im jsut afraid that my bike cant handle it and will break. So all the sudden I want a bighit, or some kind of freeridr specific bike. Do you guys think I should stick with my enduro, or get a bighit and keep my enduro for longer rides and rides that dont require a bighit? I just feel very weird and almost ridiculous to even think about buying another bike so soon after my enduro. Hell, I havnt event been biking a full year. Three bikes in a year.....lol.

So what do you guys think I should do......? Stick with my enduro and upgrade it to freeridr components, or save up some money for a bighit? Klein just asked me if I was interested in his for $1100. I guess if you look at it in a perspective that there are a lot of bikes that cost 2500, which would be the price of Keins bighit and my enduro it wouldnt be so bad.....But still........I have have just revealed my desire to risk life and limb on a bike. Its funny too because I have snowboarded for almost 8 years and Im still afriad of the air. Kind of ironic when I havn't biked a full year and Im doing crazy shizat.

Upgrade the whole thing. I wouldn't trust the enduro either. Big hit Comp maybe would be a good start. Good frame strong reliable, wicked warranty and customer service.

3 bikes in a year is good it means you progressing. That isn't bad someday you will reach a personal limit and that will define the bike you have. Some guys own 6 bikes total just to allow them to ride the variety they enjoy. Keep the enduro for the small faster stuff and get the big hit to fullfill your need for speed and hits :)

Btw it should be able to handle 5 ft...but since progression is the name of this game the bigger bike with more confidence will be a good addition. :)

What about upgrading my enduro with a new fork and rear shock? There is a dirt jumper 3 on pricepoint or supergo going for 259 that comes with a cane creek c2 headset. Is there a rear shock that would be cross compatible with a bighit that would work with my enduro?

Do you think that this might make more sense so I can perfect my drops at around 5 feet before moving up to a bighit? And when I do move up to a bighit I can use the dirtjumper and possibly the rear shock to discount the price. Good idea as long as I stick to not much more than 5 feet on my enduro?

I agree, I'd upgrade the whole bike. The enduro should be able to take some drops and hits, but it'll definately be abused and outside of the intended range for that bike. It's designed purpose is an all-day trailbike. Some strength and durability is compromised for saving some weight. The BigHit is intended for drops. It's built to take the punishment time and time again! Get a BigHit and save the Enduro for riding with your XC buddies!

BTW, you can never have enough bikes!

Well I figure if I spend money on new components for my enduro I will be spending upwards of 500 dollars. I was thinking about getting new front and rear suspension which would come out at about $550, and then a new wheelset my come into the picture which is another couple hundred bucks. So despite my friend thinking I'm absolutely nuts, and the other side of my conscience telling me the same thing, maybe your write when you say that you can never have enough bikes.

Now the question is where do I get it. I dont think I could spend much over $1100 right now. Any ideas or suggestions?

Ironhorse makes a good bike with SGS sport for 1100$ american with a 5 year warranty that will suport freeriding and is very upgradeable. For 500$ more you can get the expert (I think) which is a huge upgrade. Right now I don't think there is a company on the market producing as good a bike as cheap.

Specialized is another one that produces good bikes cheap and you should be able to find something in that range that is upgradeable. :) (bighit expert maybe)

If you can afford to have to bikes then I say go for it. It makes things so much easier if you have one bike built so you can go big and not worry and another you would use for xc/trail rides.

I suggest looking into the bikes that were already mentioned, Big Hit or the I.H. SGS series. Both are good bikes from good companies and both can be upgraded if you ever fell the need.

You can always look at the Specialized Bighit base model. For only 800 bucks its a deal. I saw it at my LBS and man is that thing a monster.
