In an earlier thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=213431), I asked about riding from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe. I recently did this ride, except I went to Carson City instead of climbing over Luther Pass and going to Lake Tahoe.
In all, it took me 9 days to get to Carson City and back to San Francisco, which included one rest day in Carson City. For the most part, I followed the ACA's Western Express map 1. I had a very difficult day of climbing that ended with my sleeping on a stone floor. Much of the scenery is fantastic and I took lots of pictures. Standing in Carson Pass (elevation 8574) is one of those thrills that defines the allure of bike touring.
I've posted a complete trip journal (http://www.myfacilitate.net/ray/sf2carsoncity/index.htm) for those interested in the full story, complete with many, many pictures.
