Hello all,
I need some advice on a bike for my wife.
I've boiled it down to two:
2007 model Trek 7100 WSD (low step) $329 (the Mellow Yellow Color is very nice)
http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/bike.php?bikeid=1312601&f=27
or
2006 model Tiburon S (low or regular step) $279
http://fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=path&bike=Tiburon
This is the link to the 2007 model above. The 2006 can be found here under up in the top right:

Clearly the Tiburon is the better deal (they're discounting the 06 models)
Its got slighlty better components....the only 'big' difference I see is the wheel.
The Trek comes with Matrix 550 and the Fisher Matrix 750.
What is the difference here? I just think the Trek looks so cute and that she'd love it.
Please advise! Her birthday coming up!
BTW She's just going to casually ride bike paths and such so ...you know, nothing very serious.

In case you notice a lot of simularities, it is because Trek owns Gary Fisher bikes. I've seen some comparisons where the components are nearly identical at the same price range.
In this case I do not know which wheel is better. I agree that overall there is a slight edge on components for the Fisher bike. I suspect not enough that it would ever make a difference. I'd go with the one that made her the happiest.

Thanks for the reply!
I ended up buying her an elcetra Townie 21.
Its not as sporty but I figured it would motivate her to ride more since its compfrtable and cute.....so far its been ridden very little. (Initially I wasn't considering the Townie beacuse of the high price.....then my LBS owner got into a fight with the Electra sales rep and decided to blow out his whol inventory of Electras at 100$ off! Couldn;t refuse)
