Mountain Biking - 2001 Manitou Magnum SE

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I need a new fork for my old Trek 6500 and was wondering if getting a 2001 model is worth it for $70 dollars. I am thinking about a new bike in the near future so don't want to spend to much on this bike. the other option is a marzocchi EXR for $150. If anyone is familiar with either of these forks please let me know.
Thanks
Matt

If it's a bike you're going to replace soon, get the Manitou and save your pennies for the new bike!

I agree with Rotifer. I know little about this stuff from experience, but i'm buying a Marzocchi after reading all the reviews and researching fork hard and heavy for a few days. Seems they are the fork or forks. I'm getting the Marzocchi MX Comp ETA because the reviews read like they are by far the best thing at twice the price. But if you do wanna get off cheap i'll be selling a Manitou "Axel super" for cheap. The lockout lever is a bit funky, but it works, and the fork is only a month old. I'd sell it for about 80 bucks if you're interested. They list at about $240 i believe.
