Hey folks,
I want to start biking to work occasionally drom my place in the Inner Sunset down to my job at Oyster Point in South San Francisco.
I can get to Glen Park pretty easily, and I know they have some shuttles on which I could take the bike. I'd like to eventually ride all the way, though.
I've been poring over google maps, but it's hard to find a fairly safe route (plenty of room for bikes, not too much traffic) without scouting everything out at eye level.
Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking I could take Geneva down to Bayshore Boulevard down through Brisbane. Is that whacked?
Thanks!
here's the route we took for the SF->SJ Handmade Bike Show ralleycat back in March

all those roads were safe and pretty bike-friendly, hope that helps

I was thinking along that route too...bayshore blvd...then you gotta find some where to hop over the train tracks and they usually means going on an onramp. Oyster point ramp has a side street that's pretty wide...
Let me know how it goes...if you make it, I may try biking to work too! :-D

Hi,
I go from North Beach to Sierra point so I'm familiar with the area you are trying to navigate.
Go Geneva to Bayshore like you mention. Instead of going right on Bayshore(south) go left. Right at Blanken over the tracks, right on Tunnel Rd.
Take tunnel past the dump and youll come to a T (after some storage Tanks)make a left.
At another T which I believe is Marina (unmarked)make a right(nice bike lane here).
Make a right on Sierra Point boulevard.
Sierra will go through an office parking lot. In the far SE corner there is a bike pedestrian bridge that will take you to oyster point.
Hope this helps. Email me if you have questions.

imho it's good route, as a matter of fact I take it all the time to get to SB Mountain (I live in Excelsior). Alemany & Geneva are all bike paths, and then your right there. Geneva between Alemnay & Mission is a little dense, but completly manageable. My only piece of advice, if it's late at night or dark, avoid Geneva between Bayshore & The Cow Palace. Take Carter St to/from Gudalupe to get around it. Going to Brisbane, it's a nice little climb for sure.
The only other semi-sane option is to go down Alemany to Dlay City and cut east across SB mountain, which can be fun as well. Or maybe from the Sunset cut down past Lake Merced to Alemnay on the other side to Geneva, etc...
