Touring - Your next tour will be in ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

... France. I'm thinking about either Brittany, the canals near Toulouse, or possible starting the Camino down into Spain.
It'll be spring next year so I don't have many details yet, I'll see what happens, or if any of you guys suggest anywhere good :)
Where are you planning to go?
If all goes well ... my next tour will be in about two weeks, on the Thanksgiving weekend.
And if all goes well ... my next tour will be somewhere not too far away here in Alberta. I'm debating between some place in Waterton National Park ... or maybe to a small provincial park nearby. :)
Also if all goes well ... hopefully I'll get in a few more similar tours before it gets too cold/snowy!

It was supposed to be this week in the Ottawa valley, but I had to cancel because of a persistent virus. So I guess the next one will be next May on the trails between Pittsburgh and Cumberland (did Cumberland to DC this past May, on the C&O canal).

Just thirteen days until we fly one-way to Bangkok with our bikes.
The plan...vague as it is... is to cycle north through Thailand then into Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia before returning to Thailand. After cycling south through Malaysia we will fly from Singapore to India (gulp).

I leave for Romania next tues. I'll be living there for 6 months, and I plan to take a couple long weeks of velo adventures! Don't forget to stop and talk to the other loaded bike tourists that you see on the route.
in about a month or so ... two weeks cycling the south island of new zealand ... not really sure exact route, might just bike out the gate and turn either right or left and see where it takes me ... either that or take the train to the top of the south island and bike back home again ...

You know, you can't really do too much touring inside of waterton national park. There are only about twenty or thirty miles of road inside the park itself, so most of the cycling that you would do in the park would consist of riding from the front entrance to Waterton village, where the campground and hotels are. But touring in the area around the park is quite nice.
This is the route that I took on my way through the area in 2003.

I've been keeping my tours local for the last couple of years. I've completed circles of two of the great lakes and the lower and upper peninsula of Michigan. Next summer I may try to circle Lake Superior and do some other side jaunts, or I might head for Colorado to test myself in the high mountains.

Still up in the air -- much depends on how much it costs to get some dental work done later in the year -- early estimates could be as much as $2,000. I was hoping for Scotland or Wales next year, but if finances don't work out, I'll likely head for Western Australia, or possibly back to New Zealand to the North Island this time.
Before then I'll planning a weekend trip to Minyon Falls, I'm just not sure exactly when that will happen.

Not soon enough. :(
If I'm lucky, I'll ride from SF to Santa Barbara in a couple of weeks, but chances are work or weather will prevent it.

I think my next tour will be in western mass, vermont and parts of southern new hampshire to see the foliage.
My major tours occur in summers of alternate years, and I just finished a 5000 mile cross USA tour this past summer, so my next major tour won't be till summer of 2008, probably in the alps. I have rumblings about another world tour from 2010-2012, but I am not sure. Depends on what happens to the stock market, I guess.

Now that sounds like an awesome trip. I may have to steal that idea for my next long tour. Hope to see you there next summer!
In two weels! 7 days cycling around fiji on the way to meet the dive club on Taveuni for a week of scuba diving. Have had to fit things around ferry schedules between the islands but has worked out well.
