which country has the best domestic track racing/ track league seen, i.e. none international standard riders/racing etc
state you nominated country and evidence to support.....

I think it would be reasonable to say that Australia would have the best domestic track scene. Upcoming juniors can regularly get a crack at Olympic, World and Commonwealth champions in 'Open' carnival events. International representative riders from other countries regularly come out to Australia and are shocked they get put in B grade and that riders they have never heard of are handing their arses to them on a regular basis.
Check this story for evidence.
Track league would be a different matter. Trexlertown, Manchester, Herne Hill until recently (?), Gent, Caulfield Carnegie on occassion, the new DISC track in Melbourne, Dunc Gray Velodrome....all would have a good claim to having had the best track 'leagues' at various time.

i agree you aussie's have a strong case, especially with the 'carnival event's
us brits (pommes, haha) have lots of track leagues in the summer on outdoor tracks, such as newcastle, halesowen, preston park, welwyn, wolverhampton, meadowbank, s****horpe plus many many more
not particulary well known outside of the uk but thats the way they are ment to be
then in the winter focus shifts to the indoor track leagues at the world famous manchester velodrome, newport, calshot
also in the summer we have endurance and sprinter leagues which are basically a series of open events around the country with a day or weekends cycle racing
throw in the revolutions as well, which are probably the equivalent of your carnivals, as they aim to exhibit track cycling to non cyclists and cyclists alike with a range of showdowns between the worlds best cyclists
we have the manchester world cup, but i suppose then you could say three other countries have a round of that too, haha
world masters track champs for the last twelve years
grass track racing is booming in the summer
plenty more info and evidence at british cycling's site:

not sure what the scene is like in other countries but i would certainly say the uk and aus lead the way

wow, good call velodrome. Put in a long list like that we are kinda blessed in the UK. Also, going to Europe for things like the Gent / German sixes is a short 2-3hrs trip if you live in the South - and many of us Brits go to those each winter.
BTW Classic - the Herne Hill League has been back on with a bang this summer - they finally got the lease issues sorted and the track is now being run by the Velo Club Londres who've done a top job getting people into track, laying on Derny training etc etc.

Jolly good show old chap!;) Seriously, I used to buy the comic before the extreme parochialism of it completely cracked me. I kind of followed the developments on HH for a while. It would have been a shame to loose it. Used to hear about that track as a kid coz a few of the Aussie mafia who raced there in the 70's know my family.
BTW, what moron allowed the Manchester World Cup and Herne Hill Good Friday meet to happen on the same day last year? Incredible, especially after the previous years huge success with the 2 1/2 Aussie attraction of OGrady, McGee and Wiggins.
I'd love to see a six. When I was in Europe last year I should have told the missus and little bloke that we were skipping visiting her relatives in Germany and dodging Disneyland to go and see the Amsterdam six instead.:D
