Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a couple of multi-serving bottles of hammer gel (16 or 20 ounce container, or whatnot).
Do I need to keep these refrigerated once they are opened, or does it not matter?

Nutrient agar that is used to grow bacteria shares several of the same ingredients in energy gels.

Depends on the water activity, or rather, how much sugar there is in the product. IOW I have no idea, just thought I'd throw out some cool words I learned in food safety class.

if you're gonna use 'em within the next three months, no need to store in the fridge.
Check the label. You may not need to. Honey, for example, has similar consistancy but requires no refrigeration.
