Looking for group rides or riding buddies in the Albuquerque area.

Now that spring is around I thought I would bring this back to the top.

And roadies out there? We have a solid group of anywhere between 2-12 riders on any given day from beginner to damn good.

Also, anyone that would like to commute from the west side let me know. I plan to ride from Coors and Montano to Eubank and Central within the coming weeks.

What route are you planning on taking from the west side? I'm in the Heights, but I'm out toward the westside a lot of weekends and it seems like there aren't many good east-west routes south of Paseo.

When and where does your group usually ride? A friend and I are getting ready for the Santa Fe Century and working on getting lots of miles in, and having a group to ride with is always nice.

The route I take involves both bike trail and some of the 5 foot lanes on roads. I live on Coors and Montano. I go:
Montano to Rio Grande
Rio Grande to Griegos
Griegos to North Diversion Channel
North Diversion Channel to Paseo Del Noreste Recreation Trail
Paseo Del Noreste Recreation Trail to Pennsylvania (Where Sandia High School is)
Pennsylvania to Paseo De Las Montanas Recreation Trail
Paseo De Las Montanas Recreation Trail to Moon
Moon (over the freeway and through Los Altos) to Southern
Southern to Eubank
Eubank onto the Base

The spot where Griegos turns into Comanche is a little uncomfortable, no bike lane, but its very short. The adrenaline also gets your heart beating.

As far as weekends are concerned, we usually start at Coors and Montano and ride from there. You can pretty much get anywhere. Sometimes we go north to Corrales, Rio Rancho, Jemez Dam, Bernalillo, or climb up Tramway. Other times we go south to Rio Bravo and make a loop to the east towards the university or to the west and climb Rio Bravo. Sometimes we park on Central and Tramway and hit up Sedillo Hill or South 14. My brother has also climbed the peak once as well. So there is no shortage of rides we can take. It just depends on what we feel that day or what someone has planned.

We were planning on doing the Iron Horse in Durango but I just had knee surgery in November and I dont think my knee is gonna hold up for a 56 mile climb.

I've rarely ridden Griegos, and when I have it's usually been with the trailer and kids. I'm not a big fan of the bike lane - it's fine most places, but it gets narrow in a few spots and disappears completely for a couple of blocks (maybe 4th to 2nd, I'm not quite sure) as well as the spot you mentioned where it turns into Comanche. Most of my dislike comes from having the trailer attached, though - I'm a lot pickier about where I ride when I have the kids with me, since it makes me a lot wider and less maneuverable.

I've been meaning to look at the trail that parallels I-40 from the river to 6th or so. It looks like it doesn't end far from Indian School, which has a decent bike lane all the way up to San Pedro where you pick up the Paseo de las Montanas trail. The ride from my house (San Mateo and Comanche) to the bosque trail at Paseo is great, the bosque is great, but I don't have a good way to make a loop out of it.

My commute is down the Paseo del Nordeste and up the North Diversion to Journal Center, then across Paseo at Jefferson and into the industrial area that's just west of there:
