Did you get married somewhere other than the traditional Church location?
Beach?
Garden?
Mountain top?
By a lake?
Pics would be nice, too! :)

Does Joliet, Illinois, count as unusual?
(No, we weren't married at the prison....she waited until I was paroled... :D )

So was it romantic or creepy? And did they dress accordingly?
Got married in a church, but got engaged on a sail boat during a regatta with my proposal lettered onto the sail, a spinnaker. I worked foredeck (in front of the mast) and my wife was in charge of trimming head sails (jib, genoa, spinnaker). All the crew and many of the spectator boats knew it was coming, but my wife to be had no idea. We put the sail with the proposal on it up, and she was so intent on flying the sail correctly, that she never read it. When she finally did, she fell down on the deck. We went into the marina with the sail flying. The boat owner and crew even turned the sail around so that it could be read as we headed in. Originally we had it flying so that only the people on the boat could see the sail. Do not have any pictures of it to post on this computer.

Got married in a reception hall..not so interesting. Next day, though, flew to New Orleans for eight blessed days of debauchery...and good food.

They didn't dress weird. It was weird enough already. I suppose it was a rather romantic event, even if it was strange.
I'm not married but.
I've seen-
underwater
two people sky diving
and on top of two crop duster planes.

Out in the middle of no where, had it not been raining that day it would have been held outdoors under the big willow tree. It's over looking a lake.
Oh, and apparently Al Capone liked to hang out there back in the day.

A good friend of mine had his wedding on a chartered tour boat, it was really cool and unusual. I've got a wedding in a park this coming Saturday, so that's a little different. Myself, I had a plain church and reception hall wedding, but it was a great time. We did get engaged at the Crayola factory though...

Mt wife's dad has a big house on the water. We had every thing right in the back yard over looking the ocean. We had the band and dance floor and bar at he back of the house. All the tables were set along the water. The caterer used the kitchen of the house to prepare the food. We got permittion to use a parking lot down the road for parking and had shuttle busses take people to the cars, or hotel rooms. It was a nice set up.

Wedding: Berkeley Rose Garden;

Does that sound as pompous as I think it does?

Got married on the beach in Kaua'i.
Living in a tourist town, I've seen lots of country club, beachfront, dock, hotel banquet hall, and park weddings.
My preference would be to elope, but barring that I think a zoo would be cool!

really?
Yep for sure.
The first was informal.
The second was full Shinto in a World Heritage Listed Shrine
The third was "western style" (not cowboys and indian western)
I am now a very poor man with great memories.

Had some hippie friends. They got married in a junk yard in Florida. Remember connecting with some divers on a dive boat in Florida, who got married in the Florida Keys , but under the Florida keys. Wonder if the minister clearly heard the I do's.? Don't know the details of the wedding more than that. The minister was also a diver.
ANyone know of any cycling marriages. ? Seems they have been posted here at the forum. ?
