Mountain Biking - Decissions....

Hi Guys

Basically, i'm looking at some new tyres for my mongoose

I've decided on DMRs, but i'm not sure which ones...

For those who can't be bothered to open the links, it's either DMR Moto Digger 26x2.35 or DMR Moto R/T 26x2.4

I mainly ride street or dirt, and im looking for a fast riding tyre which won't compromise the looks of my bike too (these are really important to me, and if the tyres arent fat enough - the whole bike looks stupid!)

Yea i was thinking of those, but silly as it sounds they're actually kinda out of budget... i really have no money at the moment, but i can't live with 2.7 High rollers! (Bought those in a moment of madness, great for downhill but not for what i do!) So I gotta switch tyres ASAP, and the DMRs fall right into budget. I would like them though :)

I have a set of Serfas Vermins that I really like for hardpack or light dirt.

They have a kevlar casing for puncture resistance.

I paid about $25 for my set..there is a difference between the front and rear. On the website I linked, they are selling them for $20.

I'm in the UK :) and im a student and unbelievably broke :( even the difference of £5, which it is here, builds to £10 for 2 tyres, and i havnt got that kinda money spare... im seriously pooling all my money together here for these!

Edit: those Serfas look ok, but they are'nt really thick enough for my bike, my bike came standard with 2.35 Kendas, and even those looked tiny! i wouldnt dream of going under 2.35. Thanks for the help though :)

For $20 U.S., you can get the Serfas vermins I posted about. Yes..I paid $25 for BOTH tires. If you are worried about they way they look, here is a pic of them on my Kona Dawg Deluxe:

If you are looking for a wide tire, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of getting semi-slicks?

Edit: What i mean is...you are looking for a tire with less rolling resistance for road/light dirt work right? A big wide tire has more resistance than a slightly thinner one. Most semi-slick tires that you will find aren't gonna be more than about 2 inches wide because having a wide tire defeats the purpose of using semi-slicks in the first place. It's gonna be really hard to find semis that are more than 2.35 inches wide, and if you do, they will be expensive.

Yea i kinda see what you mean, it's logical, but i dont want semi-slicks, i want dirt jumping rubber, which is also good for street use. Gotta admit though, they look good on your kona :)

Look at the closeup of the tires I posted. I strongly think these will suit your needs well, and it will be VERY hard to beat the price.

There isnt much listed for under $20 a tire.

you still use pounds right? if so, then 22$ american=about 12 pounds.

I'm sure they would, i'm just not convinced on them :S i think im gonna go for the diggers now though

**** yeah! I use em' for almost anything (their crappy for loose pack and mud)even though they look kinda gay on my bike because their fairly skinny I don't care I love em'!
