Found a bike at a local thrift store. It's about my size, decent looking polygon
short reach brakes, standard Silstar three piece cranks with euro bottom brakcet.
Lugged frame, and the lower lug at the head tube has a small logo stamped into it. I could not read it in the bad light, but it looked like two letters? The frame looks IDENTICAL in most respects to an 85 Schwinn
Sprint I owned for a while. Suntour components. I was thinking it would make a good single speeed fun bike?,,,,BD

42 views without so much as a "It's a piece of crap" lol. Oh well. I liked the lugged frame and built
in seatpost clamp. Did have forged fork tips, not folded rectangle Huffy style. I have a decent set of wheels to throw on it. Guess it's not worth the gas money.,,,,BD

Well, maybe not today, but possibly tomorrow. That's if the thrift store doesn't go crazy for me takiing pictures in their store. They want $18 and change, but it looks like it sat somewhere for a loooooong time before it was in the store, and it was the one against the wall, with about 10-12 other bikes leaned on it.
Headbadge was a sticker, that's why I'm thinking it was the same maker as the schwinn, with their own name on it.,,,,BD

18 bucks? Just buy it. You'll be sorry later if you don't!

I agree 18 dollars for a entry level road bike. which is what this sounds like is a good deal you might have to put some time and effort to make it what you want it to be but an 18 dollar decent road bike is great because you can experment and not worry about trashing it.

Has anyone heard of Premier brand before? That was my main question, lol. I am tempted to go pick it up right now, while on the way to my friends house.,,,,BD
Dude, it's only $18... Get it.

WTH, headed over there now. Internal 3 speed, alloy bars, and a repaint. Sounds like fun.,,,,BD

Well, here it is. Not much to look at, oh well. But it is really not all that heavy, especially next to
my steel cranked Continental, hehe.,,,,BD
I too was curious about one of these and grabbed it. The Premier was made by Pacific Bicycle Co and was an attempt at getting into the road bike sector. Design was obviously influenced by Schwinn I'd say...
Although I think they were not in Madison,WI at that time, I never did know how to date mine or where they made em.....
Might look nice w/some shiny fenders and would make a great "bad weather" commuter ehh??

Well, the 85 Schwinn had the same features down to paint color. Cranks were
the same Silstars, and eerily similar sprockets. The brakes on the Schwinn were Chang stars though.
There are labels on the rims, but the one I tried to read was peeling and Not legible. I will probably
paint it up all fancy like, convert it to 3 or one speed. Alloy bars, new wrap and seat, and ride it around for the hell of it.,,,,BD

It also says made in Taiwan. Mfg for sale only in the US. Low sticker near the BB.,,,,BD

Yep, posted a pic, and it's like I posted a rusty 70's Huffy, lol. It's okay. It will look nice repainted, cleaned, and on CL.,,,,BD
Definitely a Schwin knock-off. Since alot of those Schwinns were Asian made it might be a Schwinn for all intents and purposes.
FWIW I say go for the 3 speed conversion. There's been no shortage of fixie/SS conversions (including one of mine) but a 3 speed "Club" bike is cool and I want to do one sooner or later.

The only bad thing, is that I want to sell it. I don't want to drop good money for a relacing, only for someone to not understand why this offbrand is so expensive. The average public doesn't know or understand the cost of building a wheel. It puzzles them, lol.,,,,BD
I think I am going to redo one of my Aerowinds soon. burgundy or orange metallic, tan wrap and seat.
I have a Nexus7, but I cannot decide which bike to put it on, lol. Too many candidates......

I blew it all apart the other day, and found out it was an 83 model. Fork had a date, along with the Akisu name.,,,,BD
Junk? Believe me, I've seen a LOT worse for a LOT more money!

Oh man, it's looking very nice right now. I stripped it completely down to bare steel, and have a nice coat
of etching primer on it. That dull army green is making it look much nicer, hehe. About 20 more minutes
I will shoot a few coats of orange filler primer, and then let it dry for the final sanding. No more work today, got an RX7 club meeting to go to.,,,,BD

Okay, all paint is done and is drying comfortably. Amazing color too! It's the same color as the older King Ranch Ford trucks. Chestnut metallic. has a lot of reddish pearl in it. Should be a very nice looking bike once assembled.,,,,BD
Same color as the top half of my truck. Nice color huh?

I think I've seen that good looking truck around town, what neck of the woods are you in?

I am usually around the 45 and Parker area, but I'm also out 290 a lot. I also frequent the Montrose area. No, it's not like that, lol. I have a PO box there, and a bar called Cecils Pub I go to sometimes. It's on West Gray just outside of downtown. The truck picture was taken by the no longer existing Wards store, in Northline mall.,,,,BD

the bike looks pretty cool. theres what something worth on ebay and the intrinsic value of something. if that bike takes you to work (which it easily could) than its value is worth much more than what you could sell it for.
also, I think you should go to blogger.com and open a blog, in 21 replies, 17 were made by the OP, pretty funny.
post pics of the new paint when u get a chance.

Still waiting for it to dry, for cripes sake. As late as yesterday afternoon I could still dig a nail into it. The bodyshop supply that mixed was apologetic, but it really doesn't help me much. The bike's not going to take me anywhere, except a test ride or two. I'm selling it as soon as I get the chance.,,,,BD
I am sick of even hearing the word blog actually. What's an OP?

I took it to the auction along with the Vista muscle bike, and it brought $200 repainted/recabled/regreased. Make a wish foundation rocks!!,,,,,BD
