Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have 2 1972 Raleigh 3 speeds 1 mens, 1 ladies frames both have excellent sheet metal, the hubs still shift. wheels rusty on both, good tires on one, missing chain guard on mens, No saddles

I also have a Rudge probaly mid 60's. Faded paint, rusty wheels, dinged fenders. I can't remember if it shifts . This bike does not have the Rudge "hand" crank just a regular Raleigh crank, drop bars, mattress saddle.

all are free for pickup in Round Lake NY, 15 miles north of Albany NY, I will not ship!

Man, if I had room, I would have to come haul those away for you... even though I don't really need any of them...

Even without the room, if I find myself heading anywhere near Albany and you still have them, I will let you know to have them ready to load up.

I would have enough room if you were an hour away, but not 2.5 hours. :)

Thanks for living just far enough away to not feed my addiction!

Should this thread be moved to the 50+ forum? Or is everybody in this forum 50 anyways?

Keep trying!
(there's a funny story behind that question, but we've digressed from the OP!)

That's what I get for not digging out my comix stash and doing the proper research!

The bikes are gone, now do we get the story?

Weeell, since you asked...

About 20 years ago a good friend of mine asked me one day what the Freak Brothers last name was.
I looked at him kinda funny (thinking the answer was "Freak") and said, "I don't know, GUESS!"
He quickly became irate! "Why won't you just TELL ME!!!"
Me; Think about it for a minute.
Him; I don't wanna THINK about it, just TELL ME!
Me; Sorry, I'm gonna let you guess.
Him; FINE! A**hole!

2 days later he stormed into the toy store where I was working and DEMANDED that I tell him.
One of my coworkers ( who had heard about our squabble) chimed in with;
"Dude, if a chicken and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many eggs would you get if 3 chickens laid eggs for 4 days?" (12)
My friend blurted out some obscenities at me and left!
Coworker & I busted up laughing!!!
10 minutes later my friend stomps back in and asks; "Why are you being such a d**k? Just TELL ME!!!
I calmly reply "Dude, what's the Jones* brothers last name?"
He got a pretty blank look on his face, as he suddenly realized how "silly" the question had been.
OK, we were friends again!...

I had only declined to tell him the answer because I thought it was WAY too obvious. (my bad)

Fast forward 20 years...
That same friend & I, along with another friend were chatting and the Freak Brothers episode came up.
Our mutual friend informed us that Freak was NOT their last name!
It is Fat Freddy Freakowtski, Phineas T. Freakears and no know last name for Franklin.

WE ALL busted up!!! And my good friend got the last laugh at MY exspense!:D

*not the actual name said, but changed to protect the easily embarrased.

Soooo, there it is! And we all STILL laugh at the question; What's the Freak Brothers last name!

I always loved her. Crumb could simultaneously poke fun at blacks and at whites' perceptions of them. I'd love for Crumb to have a go at today's gangsta culture -- maybe with Angelfood's great-granddaughter LaQueesha Pinata...

Just for the record, R. Crumb didn't draw or write the Freak Brothers comix; Gilbert Shelton did.

I just got BOTH "The Complete Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" Vol. 1&2 for my birthday.
Title page Vol 1; Copyright 2001 Gilbert Sheldon; Vol 2, Copyright 2003 Gilbert Sheldon.

My wife got me these so I wouldn't have to unseal my original copies of each comic!:D
