I was just searching google news for information about a child on a bike that was hit on the way to school here last week. Couldn't find any info on that one, but found this instead. :( I hope that he recovers.

That's what I was thinking too. I mean...yes, I realize that you can drink during the day, but when I'm out riding in daylight, it's not something that I expect to have to deal with.

Dreadful. I hope he recovers as well. Certainly makes you stop for a moment and really wonder how safe we all are out there. :(

I thought the same thing about drunks and druggies until this last weekend....

I knew someone who was killed by a drunk driver at 10 am on a saturday in the bay area. The driver blew a 0.21.

how do you physically make yourself run away from a dying person? who as it happens is dying on your behalf? :(

Superior and PCH is very close to Hoag Hospital. I wonder why they sent the rider to Western Med in Santa Ana. I go up Superior quite often. Its a fairly steep hill but short. Superior has wide lanes but that road near PCH kind of snakes up first towards the right then to the left. The drunk driver must have hit him at the beginning of the ascent.

My only thought was that Western Med might be better equipped as a trauma center to handle his injuries. I think that they're a level 2 and I'm not sure what Hoag is.

Yeah Western Med is the only trauma center around here if I remember correctly.

I think it comes inside of the Register for Costa Mesa and Newport Beach residents. I'm not sure that it's daily any longer...could be a weekly supplement.

I don't want to pay for this guy to live in a cell, eat three meals a day, work out and watch cable (even if he is pleasuring Bubba)

He needs to have his license permanently revoked (in all 50 states) and then pay restitution to the guy and his family for a VERY long time.

The lady was a teacher and mom. She was riding her bike on the sidewalk on PCH in Newport Beach. I think it was somehwere near Riverside or Tustin streets. Her funeral Mass was in Huntington Beach at St. Simon and Jude.

You never know when its your time to go.

Yeah, I don't want to pay for his up keep either but I didn't think anyone would go for my first choice, send him to Texas for a quick execution.

He took the drink, he got in the car, he didn't care about anybody but himself. He should be taken off of the streets by any means possible, permanently.

I'd go for that suggestion... :) but why ship him to Texas? do it here and save the gas for something worthwhile. Also, remember that bullets are cheap when you buy a bunch of them...

I also don't want to pay for him to die of old age here on the left coast, in Texas they don't dawdle when it come to metting out just punishment.
