I'm tired though as I didn't get to bed until midnight!

10-19-06, 01:49 AM was my post in this thread.... I was awake for another hour after that dealing with other e-mails.... now it is 9:30, I have been at work for an hour, and have had my coffee so I am awake :D

As for why I called you a SANDBAGGER... I could not bring myself to type any of the other things that got all of us laughing after the ride.... something about you slurping down an abundance of head....

Thanks, M.E., for putting together a great ride. It was fun seeing/meeting/riding with everyone. Weather was excellent and the views of the city lights were crystal clear. The post-ride hang out was yummy and funny.

That looks pretty similar to what I did, except I don't think I did that stretch out to the left, and did a detour up Mt. Hollywood Rd. to where they have all the maintenance trucks parked (went through the construction area). I can't believe I didn't run into you at some point, or at least see the lights.

odd....were the rucks near that big/new retaining wall? which road is mt hollywood? my names for things up there only mean something to about three other guys...so im a bit lost...

Night pics are sooo cool.

It only means something to me because I saw a sign. There were trucks and stuff when I went through the construction area, and some lights on, and one guy in a pickup watching TV. There was an open trench on the right on the way up (had to be careful on the way down...)

looking at google earth it looks like I might have been able to go through the area that looked like a maintenance depot and get to observatory rd.

To me Mt Hollywood dr is where we go thur the gate after the 1st hill...and where that construction was!

ok...yeah...we went up past that, saw the guy watching tv too! then at the very top, well after the yard, we went down the hill, past the tunnel and up to the observatory...then back down through the tunnel, past the greek to los feliz

ok - that explains it-- It didn't look like the road continued so I backtracked and went down to the gate, then rode along the road away from how I'd gotten to the gate. It eventually took me to the Greek Theater and I took Griffith Park and Crystal Springs back to the start.

if you shouted loud enough we may have heard you!

Glad you guys/gal had fun. I'll have to try to join you guys sometime. (Maybe when on vacation or something.) Great pics, James.

The only places we encountered traffic was coming into the park (off of Riverside), coming out (on Los Feliz - the worst of it but we rode single file, were well lit and a large group), and then a tiny bit on a stint back over Riverside (off of the bike path that we rode for about 3 miles). It's really a great area to ride at night - and the views of the city are fantastic! :D

just the last bit...but most of the ride was done on roads that are closed to cars up in the hills of the park...
