Yup! Saturday and Sunday. I ride with Gina on the trail. From Imperial to the beach and back. We hang at the beach for a while as we usually run into several friends and shoot the breeze. We average usually about 16.9 to 17.5 depending on the wind and Gina's mood!

On saturday, we start at aout 9:45. Late start cause I don't get out of work till 2 am. On Sundays maybe 9-9:30 unless we are planning to meet someone. Then maybe earlier if needed.

We start from behind the In-N-Out Burger on LaPalma and Imperial.

I usually do all the pulling so I can control the pace for Gina. Have tried to ride with others doing the pulling but they usually sprint away, so I stay in front and do a nice steady pace.

Anybody in the same average rankings is welcomed to join us if they would like. We're not real fast but not real slow. I don't drop anyone if they are able to hang with the pace. Meaning I don't intentionally sprint away. If someone falls a lil behind, we slow down so they can jump back on the line. If they're too slow, then they areon their own.

But 16-17.5 usually do good with us! So even if the wimmins want to join in with Gina!C'mon down!

Oh, and we usually start slow and work warm our way up. No 24 mph sprint starts!:D

Nice, we usually leave a little earlier. I am going with a few noobs. I just built my sister-in-law a new bike from spare parts (Scattante with 105 comps). We are also taking Gab (my son) so we tend to run a little slower. Four of us are going to start around 9am from Rampart, then meet up the other two at Costco (Slater/SART), then we split up and the faster of us are going to Warner or Newport Coast. So wil you be on the tandem ? I will wearing all black on a blue tarmac. We usually stop HB at the end of SART just under the bridge and to the right. If you see us my name is "John".

I'll be down there on Saturday again with my buddy from last week -- gotta get him in shape! We'll be leaving a little earlier, around 8:00am, so we'll probably pass you on your way down to the beach as we come back from the beach.

Beanz,
If you don't mind next sunday would be fun. My son is going to be out of town. My wife (Kris) would enjoy riding with another girl. I think she can maintain a 16-17 mph, if not we can always drop back and you two can go ahead. I will post during the week to confirm.

Cool man! Would be nice to have some company! We are good at holding the pace down. Gina is always glad to have another gal around. No problem. If she can hold even close, we can slow. Gina will be happy about it! Let us know!

Met up with Chuck 5.2 on Saturday. Awesome ride for us, not sure about Chuckie, but we had a great time. Gina and I started at Imperial, stopped at the Arrohead Pond waterstop where Chuck caught up to us. I did the pull form ther to the beach. Kept it at 18-19 most of the way. Chuckie offered to pull but I wanted to do it so I could control the pace for Gina. Sat at the beachstop for a bit then headed back.

On the way back I pulled for nearly 7,8 miles then some dude went by and Chuck said, maybe we should catch him. I said go for it cause I didn't know if Gina could hang as the guy was doing a good pace. So Chuck took off and said he'd slow for us when he caught the guy. I watched as he pulled away then asked Gina how she flet. She said ok so I said let's go for it. I picked it up with Gina on my wheel. We were doing 24mph and closing in on the other two riders. Chuck was just about up with the other guy when Gina and I went by. I think they jumped our wheels. I wasn't sure cause I was trying to concentrate on keeping my lungs from bursting.:D

I pulled for a while the best I could then Chuck said, "Gina dropped". SO I sat up and slowed, just like last time Chucker said that! My speed rapidly fell as the other guy went by as I expected. But like last time, Gina was on his wheel, looked at me and smiled as she rolled by. Crap! Chuckie was on too as they rolled away. SO I had to try real hard to get my speed back up to catch on.

Finally Gina couldn't hold the pace anymore with 7 miles of the 42 left, so we fell back. Chuckster slowed to say so long, then picked it back up and rolled off into the sunset. We stopped for a couple of minutes to recoup. Just as we were heading out, 7 riders from a club stopped by. We left a lil bit before they did. I held the pace a lil lower so that Gina would have some left for the next day. The group rolled by so I told Gina to jump in and enjoy the ride. We just crusied back at the tail end of the club. Man, sitting in a pack is just too easy!:D

Chuckster said Gina could easily race if she really wanted. Some training, some hills and she'd be good to go! She just laughs but I'm actually feeling threatened here. She can pound pretty well on the flats! At one point in the ride I pushed up a lil hill where she used to fall off the pace. At the top she said, "thanks", I asked,"for what?". She said holding the pace down for her to stay on! I laughed and said, "I didn't, I was pushing hard".

It's great when you can ride and the wifey stays on! Today was her personal best. We did the 42 miles with an 18.1 average.:D

That is awesome you should be very proud of her. Kris is getting a lot stronger too. When she first started riding she could barely maintain 13-15 mph, now she averages about 16-17 mph now. I know what you mean about "Riding with the wife..And LOVNG IT! ", it is a bunch of fun riding with the wife. I love riding together as a family with little Gabriel, but sometimes the wife and I just need to get away. I talked to Kristine about next Sunday and she says great it sounds like a plan. I will post during the week to let you when and where.

Cool. Yeah Gina is riding strong right now. So much more fun. No way she'd ever want to race, just fun to keep up.:D

When we bought our tandem back in 98, we tried to keep up with groups riding at 20. Was tough, never thought we'd keep up. Now it seems so easy. I guess we've just developed! Just gets better and better. Keep her out there!

Beanz,

I will probably head your way from my house around 7 AM on Sunday. If you don't remember what I look like, be on the lookout for a clyde on a black Cervelo tri bike wearing a red/silver/blue Rudy Project helmet. I hope I see you guys.

Cheers!
