I am building up a cross bike and am trying to really keep the weight down yet remain functional and reliable. What pedals are good for cross? Crank Brothers Ti Eggbeaters? Time Atacs? Any downsides?

I like Eggbeaters. They can be hard to get used to since there is no platform to rest your foot on, but it also means no mud can muck up the works. And for what it's worth, the Ti version is overkill. It's not going to save you enough grams to matter and be costly to replace.

Time ATACs for racing. Nice realease, and a good platform.

Just incase you forget your racing shoes it's nice to have some platform pedals in the tool bag.

My Time ATAC's work great in all conditions except for wet sandy soil. The edges of the cleats really tend to clog up making clipping-in damn near impossible.

I like my crank bros candy pedals and it provides a a universal clip system
quattro on the road bike
candy on the mtn and tt bike
any shoe will work with any pedal
