Day 21 Tarras to Queenstown 115 km.
Up to Queenstown, to get my some new parts for my bike!
Started 0830 because i couldn`t find my hook for the trailer (someone else did, thanks Illenka)
Left the gravel road and after 10 km. the first sign said "Wanaka / Westcoast" , a bit odd because i headed up to Cromwell.
"Nevermind" i thought, but the next sign after 20 km said "Lake Hawea 1km" and thats where i feeled something was very wrong!
I looked at the map and i missed the turn because of the gravelroad....:mad:
Up to Wanaka then and after that the tourist drive to Queenstown, after some muffins and a banana in Wanaka, i started my original ride to Qt.
Someone told me it was a steep road.....and steep it was, it turned out it was the highest road of NZ, with a pass on 1170 mtr. :eek:
There i was riding on the hottest part of the day on the highest road of the country, with a burning sun at my back.
Finally after 2.5 hours with an average 8km/h i was on the top, after speeded up for the last 25 km to Qt.
Entered Queenstown at 1530, put up my tent and after my shower i went for a Big Mac.... :D
(Note; its not my normal habbit, but i couldn`t resist this one!)
