Bicycle Mechanics - Road bike repair starter kit? (nipples, crimp ends, etc.)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

As I'm learning to work on my bike, I find myself in need of some items like: spoke nipples, cable crimp ends, new cables and the like. (I have tools, I just need supplies.)
Is there an on-line source to buy some sort of starter kit for a road bike? Or, if not, where is the best place to buy some of those supplies?
I'd love to buy them as needed from my LBS, but it's almost an hour drive each way and I'd like to have some of those things on hand.
Thanks in advance!

I'll put in a plug for LooseScrews.com, because they are such great people and it's a small business that will give you personal attention and great customer service. Great prices on many things too. They sell the slick die-drawn derailleur cable, which is so smooooooth and nice for shifting. They have cable ends, housing & ferrules, and just about any small part you can think of, but not spokes and nipples. For those, I highly recommend Nashbar as having the best price for Wheelsmith double-butted spokes and brass nipples.

We give them away, but you would need to pay shipping/handling if you aren't ordering anything else...

http://www.biketoolsetc.com/ also has the things you like and they're also small-scale, user-friendly. My recent shipment from Harris was quite nice, and I look forward to ordering from them again.
