I have an Enduro 2 right now and the base just broke off after having it only 8 months. CatEye wants $19 including shipping for another base (which you are not going to find in stores). I'm emailing back and forth with the support to see what will happen. If their support winds up being bad, then I would recommend against it.

I've got the Astrale on two different bikes. I like having cadence as a reminder to keep up my RPMs. They have held up well. The older one is over 7-yrs old. The other only about 2. I don't ride much in the rain or at night, so I can't advise you if the Astrale is appropriate under those conditions.

The other thing about the Astrale (at least the next to newest model) is that it came with a rear wheel mount so you can use it with your trainer!

My roadbike has the Astrale CD /CC 100 - I've come to use cadnce RPM more than MPH to train - It isn't waterproof so I carry a small corner of a baggie and a rubber band to cover it during rainy rides.

My MTB has the Enduro 2 - it's held up well through the abuse.

My commuter bike has the standard Enduro - the quality differnce between it and the Enduro 2 are obvious, but it serves it purpose.

I'm one who believes you can't go wrong with Cateye products, but the type of riding you plan to do would have dictate the right choice of computer.

Go for the Astrale.I bought the mity3 a few years ago and use it on my winter bike, but on my training bike and my race bike I use the Astrale. The cadence function on it is really useful and it has all the functions you need. You wouldnt go wrong with it.

I use a Mity 3 that I got on clearance form Nashbar for 15 bucks Yes it's orange but it serves me well even in the rain and after I extended the wire on the heavy-duty sensor to use it on the rear wheel instead of up front because I take the front wheel off to throw it in the car trunk (My girlfriend occasionally picks me up from work whenever I work late so I don't get hit by some moron)

Hi,
Do you mean the base of the actual computer or the part that stays fixed on the bike. If it is the latter, you might want to try ordering them from Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada. They had the whole kit for something like $12.00 CDN (minus the computer of course).

(Sorry if this is outdated now - I just joined the forums recently).

I have the Astrale. I like it. I bought it as an upgrade to another one because I missed the cadence feature. I now watch cadence and heart rate when riding. These are the two most important things. It's worth the extra $$.
