Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello all. Is it "frame safe" to use an aluminum road frame with a rear wheel loaded trainer if I'm not doing any sprint work? Is it even a no-no to do sprints with an aluminum frame in the trainer? Thanks.
It is fine. All types of frames are built better than people think.

It's fine. My aluminum frame has no problems after being used on a trainer last winter.

I've done sprint and climbing workouts on both carbon and aluminum bikes. It ain't gonna hurt it anymore than riding on the road.

I use an aluminum Cannondale road bike on a CycleOps FL2 trainer for several thousand hours.
I also use an aluminum Trek Hybrid.
No problems!
My exercise is typical at 17 MPH, just above 90 RPM.
I also Stand up for up to 5 minutes at speeds of 18-20MPH.
No problems with that either!
