Mountain Biking - Banshee Chaparral
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm thinking of getting a Banshee Chaperal, I got a deal on a 05 model $2250.00 (+14% tax =$2565), here are the specs:
Marzocchi Drop Off Triple 170mm
TV Rockguard /36/24
Shimano CS-HG-50 11-32 9 speed
Shimano Deore LX
TruVativ Hussefelt OS Riser
TruVativ Hussefelt OS
Hayes Hydraulic HFX-9 HD V8
Hayes Hydraulic HFX-9 HD V8
Shimano FH-M525 disc
WTB Pure V Comp
TruVativ XR Double Clamp
Do you think this is a good setup? Should I look for a 06 frame or a better deal?

Yea that looks like a pretty solid setup. The fork is not to great and you may want to upgrade it in a year or two. What type of riding will you be doing?

This is the second thread you made about this bike. If you want to know what ppl think about it, see your previous thread:
FR, do you think I should bargain for a lower price?
10-03-06, 06:57 PM
Sounds like a good ride! I'd bargain the price though...that bike is almost 2 years old now.
The parts are 06, what would be a reasonable price to ask for?
10-11-06, 03:27 PM
Wait so all the parts are 06? Are they new?
You said plus tax so I'm guessing your buying from a shop, that is a big plus!
If the components are in like new condition, then the price is fair. But it wouldent hurt to try and bargain a little.
Yeah the parts are new, here's a pic (the frame in this pic is 04 though) http://www.mediaslave.name/cyclesolutions/specials/images/Chaparrell_Bike_Image.jpg

If the bike you are buying is in the same condition as the one in the pic, then it is a fair price and go for it!

The one in your last link is really nice but I'm not good with pricing so I'm not sure if its worth that money...someone else would have to answer you. Nice specs though.
