dinner: fish, brown rice, caesar salad
before ride: toast with almond butter
during ride: peanut butter luna bars
i also found an italian product called torrone. it is an almond, egg white and sugar confection that i have been wanting to try for quick energy during the ride.

Have you ever tried eating vegetables? :)
almonds, lately I've been on this kick, eat about
1/2 cup at a sitting, and there's usually 2 of those a day.
My other snack is trail mix bars. Sure its not the best thing
but I like em, and their better than the other stuff.
If I feel really bad I'll eat hard pretzels, love the salt.
Breakfast is usually fruit and bread.
Lunch is ramen type noodles
Dinner, whatever my wife cooks, we've been doing
alot of stir fry lately. Bok Choy yum.
My big downfall is that my wife has been making
these wonderful homemade breads (no bread machine),
and I love it with some good cheese.

What I prepare for myself (everything except supper), reads like a broken record.
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs mixed into a bowl of grits. 2 cups of 'jo.
Assorted snacks before lunch: Nutrigrain, animal crackers, apple or orange. Water.
Lunch: Tuna sandwich & pretzels. Water. After, 1 cup of 'jo or tea.
Assorted snacks before supper: apple or orange, fat free fig bars. More water.
Week-nite rides: water or cytomax. If strenuous, post-ride endurox.
Supper: Wife prepares... finally some variety!
Have you ever tried eating vegetables?

I work shift work. If only I planned better and not dependent upon the fast food world, I would have a better biking weight.
I used to run 3 miles in the Am and same at the Pm. I was 140 plus.. Now I work shift work and with the vending machine one room away, the temptation for crap like Mars bars is difficult to break. When Off work, I bike soo much, I am often not around crappy food. that helps.. I admire how some of you control your food.
Think running is a little faster caloric burner and I was younger, so weight control was easier.. But a screwed up knee ended runnig.
How can I stop myself from the vending machine nightmare at 4 am? maybe take things like Romain Noodle soups, carrots, oat meal... I do not plan meals well. just not my nature. Fast food gratification in a fast food world.. I could be a better cyclist, if only*****.
At work or during the day I usually eat rabbit food, anything healthy and light. On ride weekends or while watching OU win the NCAA tounament I will most likely be feasting on a diet of potatoe chips, pizza, ice cream, anything good like that. I'll make up for it later, you only live once, right?

I generally pig out on anything, though I really try to avoid fast "food", justifying the piggishness with my bikeriding. But lately I see that I'm inching further upward from 180, so I'm going to try to lose 10 pounds or so. I've never really dieted in my life, so this should be a hoot. There is nothing better than a pint of ben&jerry's after a good ride though.

I absolutely LOVE my whole-wheat pita in the morning, among other things like yogurt, fruits--the usual stuff. My favorite pita stuffer? Butter and a big glob of TABASCO pepper jelly, the green kind, not the red.
Recently discovered Edy's Boysenberry sorbet, too. You gotta try that stuff!! yum!

I wanted to feel a little less 'Murican tonight, so we got takeout from a GREAT local middle-eastern joint owned by a Christian Palestinian family. Felafel that could make Arafat and Sharon talk nice to each other!

On shift tonight. Anyone have to cope with shift work and staying awake all night? I always live in a rush.. Vending machines have their appeal when you are not prepared. Does anyone get the munchies at 4 am? I find apples and oranges just do not fill you up at such an hour... A Mars bar has more body..
If only I could solve that problem, I would probably weigh 12 pounds less... What does anyone think a good 4 am snack would be.. Something to stop the munchies, filling yet not fattening.... Maybe oatmeal.. Soup...

A meat or bean soup, those have always been "durable" foods for me.
Too bad the freeze-dry soup companies haven't discovered Mexican albondigas soup yet.

Breakfast: I normally eat 4-5 eggs, but take most of the yolk out. I might leave a half yolk in there, and eat mostly the egg white. And I go for a banana or apple, along with some whole wheat/grain cereal, or whole wheat/grain bread.
Lunch: Somtimes I'm guilty about skipping this. But I usually try to get some yogurt, cottage cheese, a protein or other energy bar, vegetable and beef soup, or some other soup, and water or gatorade.
Dinner: Man, basically anything half way healthy goes here. I get lean steak, tuna, salmon, trout, or chicken, with any variety of vegetables (I love greens, broccoli, carrots, corn, green beans, pinto beans, salad, etc) with whole grain bread, and I usually drink water or milk.
Crap I eat: Occasionally I get a pizza or very very rarely maybe a burger. I try to avoid this stuff mostly, and don't eat it too often. I like to get ice cream sometimes too, or put some jelly on my toast in the morning. But I don't make eating junk a habit.
Breakfast is usually either yogurt and fruit, scrambled eggs and toast, (rarely cause the kids are still asleep when i leave in the am) or cereal.
snacks in the am bananas oranges in the summer peaches.
lunch leftovers from the night before or salad (garden)
mid afternoon snack is usually something like baby carrots celery or something green.
supper hmm ( I live with a type 2 diabetic so meals are usually light on fat and carbs) we do a lot of chicken, lowfat beef in spaghetti, meat loaf with lean beef.

Usually something from the four basic food groups,
Hamburger, Fires, Coffee and a Donut.
ok seriously?
Brekkie? toasted bagel with Peanut butter
Lunch vegetable soup, maybe some popcorn, but if I'm pressed and need something in the fast food group, I'm trying to keep the Veggie burgers on the menu and avoid the fries
Dinner, Mixed bag, sometimes just a PB&J sandwich.. sometimes pasta & sauce

I dont really partake in the traditional cyclist diets. I go to the gym 4 times a week and ride hard the other 3. This is my diet:
Breakfast - shredded wheat, skim milk, fruit. or maybe a 3 egg white omlette with spinach, bell pepper and tomatos with toast and OJ.
Snack - Nuts or fruit
Lunch - Tuna sandwich, chicken and pasta, turkey sandwich
Snack - Nuts or fruit, maybe celery and peanut butter
Dinner - Seafood like tuna or salmon, lean meats, and vegetables
I have a few cheats that help break up the monotony; Hummus or Musaka (sp?) with pita being my faves.
This diet works well for me, I've dropped about 20 pounds since Thanksgiving.

I just started a job that requires shifts. It is so strange what that can do to your diet. I have also found that the 4:00 AM meal has to be something good, and heavy or it won't fill me up. I have also found that I am hungry at different times of the day, and all in all I tend to eat lass than I did before. And to top it off I actually volunteered for this position. I'm loving it so far but it does crazy things to the body.
