Hi folks. Just a brief introduction, as I'm at work (shhh!). I'm 28 been living in some part of NC for the past fifteen years or so. I've not been much of a biker (cyclist, bicyclist, what have you), though I've always had one. Old Raleigh 10 speed from the '70s (God what I'd give to have that back!), BMX from the '80s and an old Huffy 18 speed MTB that I broke in over the course of 5 years or so. That's the old trail rider that I learned most of my bike maintenance on. Well, recently I came into a Schwinn 21 speed MTB, not even sure of the model. It is very light though with effective V-braking system, grip shifters (a new experience for me! love 'em) and true wheels (for how long, though? ;) ) Anyway, this bike has rekindled my joy for riding and I thought I'd give it some time and maybe develop this weekend recreation into a hobby. I love tinkering and would like to eventually put together my own bike from individual components. Anyway, I love the forums. Been enjoying them for a week or two now. Other hobbies? I enjoy reading, some hiking, vacationing, Aikido, Playstation 2 ;) , and Beer. Anyone else from NC?

Hey... Welcome

I love tinkering and would like to eventually put together my own bike from individual components.

It's an awesome thing to ride something you have built and survive... Give it a go all you got to lose is some skin.

Greetings from Winston Salem. Good to have you with us. There are a few bike clubs in the area that offer regular rides (as opposed to irregular??) that you might want to look in to. Drop me a line if you'd like to hit the road some time.
