I would say those two bikes are about as equal as you will find. Figure out which one fits you better and go with that. If it helps any Speedgoat is having one heck of a sale on the small and extra small RacerX.

Hum, thanks
but the problem is I can't try both. :(
575 has more travel (5.75") and looks alot better but my friends says 575 is weak for uphill and more like free riding and he suggests Racer-X.
man, it's so difficult.

It all depends on if you want more of a cross country race bike or more of an all-mountain bike, granted a very efficient all mountain bike.

why not a motolite?

That is closer to an apples to apples comparison with the 575.

I wouldn't get the Racer X unless I planned to race with it.

motolite looks almost same as what I have now. and price is bit more than my budget.
could you(Curt Kurt) give me a little detail about 'race' ?
thanks

Race - A race is a competition of speed. The competitors in a race try to complete a given task in the shortest amount of time. Typically this involves traversing some distance, but it can be any other task.

Hmmm, sounds kind of pointless to me. Why would anyone want to do such a thing???

Last week at Interbike I got to trail test both bikes. The Titus felt like my Jamis Dakar only a lot lighter and with a much better shock(Fox RP23 vs My Fox Vanilla). The Yeti 575 was a more of an All Mountain bike than a XC Race bike(nearly 2" more travel), but it handled the trails a bit better than the Titus.

Don't pay any attention to my opinions, for I am not a professional cyclist.

Titus Racer X or Yeti 575

Nice one to talk about...those are two top line FS bikes out there.

It depends what kind of riding you do. To race, I will take Racer X as the names says it all. For trail riding, Yeti 575 for sure for its Easton frame and durablility.

If you don't race and weight isn't a big problem, I will go with 575 or Motolite. I have tested the Motolite and its a great AM bike. Cheaper then RacerX as well.

Or the other way, Yeti AS-R v. Racer X.

This question will probably be answered by what type of riding you do. As the above indicate, the AS-R and RX are more XC oriented and closer to race bikes. The Motolite and 575 are more all mountain with more travel.

Hmmm..... I don't know ;)

If your xc involves some rough terrain or small drops, then I'd go with the 575. Don't let people tell you that it can't climb, 'cause it can. Like the others have said though, if your going to race or ride twisty xc single track, then the Titus would probably be best. I'm sure you'll love whichever you get, they're both excellent bikes......
