Okay I accept there problably is a good argument for wearing a helmut but if you don't what do you wear on your head. My preference is for the racing style cap with the small peak as they keep the son off your head, the sweat off your brow, the sun from your eyes and the bugs out of your hair. However I can't find any that are not too tight. I don't feel my head is overly big and I have very short hair. I just feel a victim of the one size fits all policy. Anyone been able to get a cap that fits ? If so where ?

I always assumed they were designed to be really tight - works for me, and I have a big head. Have you thought of cutting a small slit in the back and sowing in a bit of elastic?

I've had cycling caps from two manufacturers: Pace and Santini. The Santini caps seemed a bit larger.

I almost always wear a cycling cap under my helmet. Most of mine are way too small. In Winter, keeps the head warmer too. The idea of the slit in the back sounds like a great solution.
yes, i did find a couple that were not so tight and I tend to favor those.. The two that are not so tight are caps that were not pro-gear by design. maybe that is the reason; pro styles are usually super small. But then, just because pros weigh 140 pounds, does not reflect head size? Cycling caps great for helmet hair as soon as the helmet comes off.

Or try a bandana under the helmet.
Thatīs the way I do.

You are not alone. My friend here just pointed that out to me a few weeks back.

That is why companies had to slowly advertise one size fits most. No more do you see the wording one size fits all. Legalities.

I go with a bandana in anything but cool weather. Under the helmet (on the road) or without the helmet (rail-trail).

Well, I always wear a helmet. It's a religious topic, but I consider religion to be a personal thing. ;)

That said, I'm with piratello. I use one of the purpose-made bandanas (do-wrap, headsweat, whatever). The cycling caps don't work well for me for two reasons. My head is small, so the cap bunches up under a helmet and is uncomfortable, and they're cotton... there are better things for disapating sweat and fast drying.
