I though rock shox forks were made in USA. I bought this new Rock shox Pilot fork but I want to by a new DH rig & I looked in the internet for boxxer forks & it happens to be said that boxxer forks are made in Taiwan including the world cups. I am European & I don't mind american parts on my bike because allot of american stuff can be good but I do not ever want chinese crap on any of my bikes including rock shox. I should buy manitou from now on. Don't buy morzocchi, these forks are ugly & they suck only get fox or manitou.

I just want everyone to know that rock shox are not american it is chinese.

So, if I get you right, you don't want people to buy anything from Taiwan because it is crap (which is of course ludicrous), yet people should buy Manitou because it's crap thats not made in china?

I'm Chinese and I'm born in America as well as my parents. What does that make ME?

So what do you ride and where are all its components from?

If I ever see anyone riding a 'morzocchi' I'll tell them.

Sounds like those Rolox watches I've been seeing for sale.

I won't be suprise that low end RockShox like Pilot or Judy will be made in China but Boxxer too.. hmmm

To write this comment, I AM CHINESE

Taiwan and China are two different places. Lots of people think its the same IT IS NOT!

You might even find products made in HONG KOGN. THAT IS also different!

To be honest, China product are crap but Taiwan are ok. Hong Kong products are the best of all three.

Lots of high end parts (bikes or non bikes) are made in China. I mean you can buy an Apple MacBook or IBM Thinkpad which are the best laptops you can get and THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA. CHINA not Taiwan. That is even worst. So I don't get why you can't stand the fact the boxxer are made in Taiwan.

I go out and get a 200 bucks Logitech mouse and its made in China. Big deal? not really

I need a tank of oxygen to go 200m down the lake and the tank is made in China YES BIG DEAL on that

but for a fork....i don't get your point

Manitou are good forks. All I am doing is informing people that rock shox is chinese. If that is fine with you then go ahead & have chinese parts on your bikes. China is famous in making things that fall apart & break (although so far my Pilot fork is fine) but when your chinese parts on your bike breaks & you get hurt then don't say you were not warned by.

Here is proof (05' world cup fork) skip first paragraph- http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=17414

Doesn't make much difference to me, everything on my bike is going to break eventually.

not everything that comes out of china/taiwan/<insertforeigncountry> sucks. likewise, not everything that comes out of the usa sucks either. vice versa, not everything that comes out of said countries are awesome either.

I think it's okay to buy something to support a country or a cause. However, unless you have first hand knowledge about items failing regarding a particular product, it is very short-sighted to discount practically an entire continent due to prejudice.

You should share what bike products you have. You'll be surprised to find that much of the stuff is made in Asia.

Oh noes rockshox are made in taiwan or china. Just as I'm sure over 50% of the parts on your bike.

it seems the cheaper options of anything aren't made in the U.S., i think it's just due to americans need to make too much money, from the low end worker having a nagging need to feed his family to the corporate executive that needs a third vacation home. I think all but the highest end trek bikes are made in china or taiwan, my work just outsourced something like 800 jobs to Mexico and the Phillipines. If you have an entire bike made in the U.S. good for you, would you like a cookie? But if your bike is only partially U.S. and you're complaining about chinese Rock Shox because forks are such an "important part" of a bike, are you saying other parts aren't as important? are your axles, rims, stem, seatpost clamp, brakes, quick releases not as important as a fork?

what's the name of that guy in Kill Bill that makes the best swords in the world? Hatorri Hanzo? I wonder if there's any guys like that working for Giant in Taiwan, that'd be sweet!

Ugh. It saddens me that people are willing to make such sweeping generalizations about other countries and cultures. Now I don't care if you think Brand X of something sucks, but don't blame the poor quality on its country of origin. If a company's product is bad, then it is the company's fault, not the people who's job it is to produce them. I'm sure that if you were to take the finest craftsman on the planet and asked him/her to build a product according to crappy specifications, the end product will still be crap--through no fault of the individual who built it.

ethnocentrism like this disgusts me.

Rockshox forks are great forks, and lots of people are happy with them. Therefore the country it came from is completely irrelevant and doesn't matter.

Yes, but by a chinese lady and her very big family. Well, at least at the Chinese place I ate today. At the Chinese restaurant I ate at yesterday most of the cooks are Mexican's. Go figure..... :o

Doesn't matter though, I love that buffet. Plus, they have icecream!!!!!!!!!

Something tells me that none of the fast food we get at these take out places are "authentic". If the chinese ate that crap every day they would all be dead by the age of 40 and weigh about 400 lbs each. That's why I limit myself to only eating it about two or three times a week. :D However, this is my celebration week so I'll eat as much as I want of whatever I want! I've earned it!

Close to work I go to an authentic Chinese restaurant that has some fantastic dishes most of which I don't even know the names of. I go with Asian friends who get a special Chinese-character menu that they order from. We usually go in groups of 6-10 and order enough dishes for our table to make our own private buffet. Yummy!

I would love to have a place like that around here. One of my favorite places to eat is in Charlotte, have no idea the name of it but it is a Vietnamese restaurant. I love their soup, pretty sure it is called Pho. I could live off of that stuff.

If I buy Asian made products, I am happier buying ones from either Capitalist ones (Taiwan), or former capitalist ones that were sold down the river. Hong Kong. If there are no other options, Chinese made is fine with me. I do like to support the innovators of products, rather than those who were 2nd and quick to market. Mountain Bike technology is something that could only evolve to the point it has in a Free to innovate society.

That's what it's called: Phô. I love those soups especially if I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. I usually order the "boeuf saignant" noodle soup which is strips of beef that are placed raw in the soup but actually cook while you stir it up.

Well actually the place we get it from is a sit down restaurant where most dishes are 8-15$ each. But you can order take out. Though, I doubt it's authentic, it tastes like heaven. Man I love oriental food minus the fish.

I can't imagine not eating the fish. Last time we had some soft-shell crab, some hot-pepper shrimp, lobster in black bean sauce, pan-fried fish...

Just got back from getting Chinese at lunch myself. Spicy chicken w/broccoli, steamed rice, egg roll, crab rangoon, and a Pepsi all for $4.50, including tax. I can't stay away from that place! Vietnamese is my favorite, though. I could eat a whoe meal of just spring rolls.

Lowcel, I'll be in Charlotte the week after the group ride if you remember the name of that place.
