To the OP, I thought that was a clever comeback.
About fat people, I'm surprised how many people are overweight, especially kids, where I live. We have mountains 10 minutes away, the ocean 10 minutes away, the average temperature year round is 70F, it rains very little and it's almost never humid. You have your choice of hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, bicycling, mountain bicycling, surfing, kayaking, walking, running, team sports, sports with balls, dancing, kite boarding, sailing, wind surfing, paragliding, ocean swimming, just about anything that doesn't require snow...and you can do all of these year round (and you can ski in winter if you don't mind driving a bit). And yet people are getting fatter even here.
I think they're putting something in the food.

I think its more likely that people are just eating and drinking more and more and more. Today's serving sizes in the US are insane. Nancy and I spent a month cycling around Switzerland this year and took a step back to normalville with regards to meal sizes. As it happened, we only saw a few people you could call fat and there are plenty of people over there that don't exercise and drive everywhere. We noticed that in Switzerland if you order a soda you get a 6-8 ounce glass and no free refills.
Our first meal back in the US was at TGI Fridays in the DFW airport following our 12 hour flight. We ordered sodas and were shocked when they sat the 24 ounce beasts down on the table. Even better... before I ever drank 8 ounces from the first glass, they brought out a second 24 ounce glass of soda for me. I didn't drink it. Apparently it must be common for some to drink 48 ounces of soda with a single meal. Well, since I was born and raised here, I know it's common. Combine that behavior with a steady regiment of holding the couch down and you might as well be screaming Super Size *Me*!!
Cheers

I've drank that much soda with a meal, but I usually only drink Diet Coke anyways, so I don't think that counts. I think the bigger problem, Miles, is eating at TGI Fridays. ;)
