Commuting - commuter bike changeup

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
after reading some posts and checking out some rides I am going to switch the set up on my commuter bike. Going to go from flat bar with bar ends to the bullhorn with brifters (shifters/brakes)....but damn those are pricey...
anyone know where to get a set for a decent price (preferably under 100)>>>

why would you want 'brifters' on bull horns...ie time trial bars without added armthingies....or are you looking at a different type of bar and have misnamed it...? I guess you could use'brifters' on a bullhorn...I think brifters are typically expen$ive...never used them on my bikes...I run barcons....

looks comfy and I am curious....
similar to this, but the bars will not come up high like that:

Brifters are about the only way to get braking and shifting on bullhorns. However as you noticed brifters are expensive.
You can try barcons and road brake levers for a less expensive but still high quality option. Or you can look for some Sora components.
bikepartsusa.com has some Sora shifters for a little under $100.
There are also some on Ebay that you maybe able to get for <$100.
Or my choice would be to lose the shifters and just go with TT brake levers. One speed is all you need.
