Bicycle Mechanics - Will Sidi road shoes take SPD (MTB) cleat?

Will Sidi's Genius series road shoes take a Shimano SPD cleat ? For that matter, will any traditional road shoes take this type of cleat ? I'm trying to find a light, stiff soled shoe without changing pedal systems, walking in them is unimportant.
Thanks

A few years ago Shimano made road pedals using the same pattern cleat as their MTB pedals and used the same two bolt mounting system. Several makers produced road shoes with the same SPD mounting slots as MTB shoes.
You can still find road shoes with a whole set of mounting points in the soles; Look, Time, SPD, and SPD-R all in the same shoe. These are increasingly rare as the three-bolt Look pattern has become the defacto standard with both Shimano SPD-SL, Campy and Time all adopting it.
Yes. My wife and I have SIDI Genius shoes and we both used SPD road pedals before switching to Speedplay X-1's. Our shoes have the same two bolt pattern as all SPD's with standard adaptor plates for the Speedplays.
We kept the SPD (pre SPDR) Ultegra and Dura-Ace road pedals that were discontinued in 1998 for use with mtn. bike shoes on rented touring bikes.
My SIDI Genius shoes were purchased in 1998 and have many thousands of miles behind them. They're still going strong although sometimes they smell strong too.

New Sidi Genius and Zeta road shoes have several options on the sole, which includes the option for SPD bolt pattern.
Many road shoes do not have the SPD bolt option, so check websites, which usually will show you a view of the sole.

So now the real question is, will sidi genius's (road) support recessed mtb style clipless pedals?

Yes. Unless I'm reading your question incorrectly.
Sidi Genius road shoes with the Millenium II sole are set up so that they will accept SPD-style mountain bike cleats. The Genius Carbon soles are three-bolt hole, so they will not work with SPD's...
edit... better pic of sole....

Awesome! Is it only SPD or will otherws work? I have a slightly older version of those sidis which also has the removeable adapter plate.

Yes, is you have the correct bolt pattern and adaptor plate.
If you don't have the shoes yet, why don't you just by the sidi mountain shoes? I have both sidi road and mtb shoes and the sole is just as stiff on the mtb shoes.
