Hey, Tokyo Cory, I notice you are in Yokosuka, Japan. Are you with the US Navy?

I just returned from Japan yesterday. Where do you bike in Japan? I have bicycled quite a bit in Japan. Neat place. At least in Tokyo and Yokohama, bicycling is as fast as automobile travel and is almost as fast as going by subway/city trains.

With the exception of automobile danger (1,700 car/bike fatalaties annually), Japan is a really neat place to bicycle.

Thanks for the inputs, Japan is a really fun place to bike. Lots of stuff to see. Its nice to get out away from the city to do some real biking though. Gotta get away from the mainstream traffic.

The best distance bike riding I've found in Japan is on the access roads in the farm fields. I am not sure about the availability around Yokosuka, but they are plentiful in Saitama, Chiba, and Ibaragi - the grain belt.

These roads are paved and straight and traffic stays off of them. They can go on for miles. They pass through towns and villages. It is a good place to meet local farmers who are usually very friendly.
