Based upon a discussion going on regarding rotating tires someone recommended polling to see which tire goes flat most often so what say you? Front or Back?

In my experience it's been the rear tire. The theory I've heard is that if you run over something with the front tire (tack, staple etc.) it can kick it up so the rear gets punctured.

I gues i just have bad luck with my front.

Definately rear, it takes all the hits.

Front! Same for tacoed wheels. Usually the front. Maybe it's a roadie thing?

The rear gets me seemingly all the time. I could count the number of flats I've had on the front in the last five years on one hand.

About an even split front and rear... The funny thing is it's only on the bottom side that they get flat :D

Same ,you can dodge `em with the front but not always with the back:mad:
AS some one else said "why do good bike tyres cost more than the average car tyre"

Exactly my experience. I don't know that I've had more than one flat on the front of my MTB. Always the rear. The road bike seems to split them more evenly.

The back, it takes the most weight on it and yes rotate your tires occasionally if you don't the back one will wear out faster than the front.

Regarding tyre rotation... Check out this article by Sheldon Brown.

Tyre rotation or tire rotation (for the yanks) (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire_rotation.html)

I've only had two flats, one rear one front so it's 50-50 as far as I'm concerned

Woooohooooo I'm not the only one that's equal front and rear

Neither! I haven't had a flat in years. I guess i've been really lucky. I don't even remember which went flat last time. Maybe front.

Definitely back. Because the rear tyre is more difficult to remove. D@mn Murphy. :D

Gosh! I seem to be in the "None of the above" list! It seems that I have had an almost even split between the front and rear.
I almost always ride on paved roads BTW.;)

I had my first flat of the year this year. Fortunately I didn't even know how/when it happened.

Donna and I rode our ride and put the bikes on the rack. When I got home the front tire was flat. After removing the tube I discovered that a spoke caused the puncture. I'm not sure why it happened but I took the front wheel to the shop and am having them put the cloth rim tape on it along with a new tube.
