I'm looking for a group road ride in or around Bloomingdale tonight, October 5. I'm here overnight for work and brought my trusty steed, hoping to put some more miles on this week. Alternatively, any BFNIC members available and willing to let a cheesehead hang out with them? It sure looks like good riding weather.

Man...wish I had known sooner. I would have brought my gear into work with me....and found a baby sitter...:(

How long you in for?

Just through tomorrow noon - sorry you're all booked up. Any good routes around Stratford Mall? The other night I rode some of the Great Western Trail, but today I would prefer to stick with paved roads. Hey, congrats on placing in the Titanium Hip award! Sounds like you all had a great time.

I'm trying to remember where I rode when I lived in Bloomingdale (I lived there for less than 6 months - mostly winter - about 3 years ago). I remember riding the great western (on my mtb) and Busse woods a lot.

Try Routeslip.com (http://routeslip.com). If you want something kind of easy to get to and good for 10 mile loops that's close then try Busse Woods. Can get crowded, but there are some hammerheads out there occassionally.

Just don't get caught there after dark. Don't ask...

I put my old Busse route on RouteSlip...

Thanks! I'll check into it and let you know tomorrow how it went.

The Busse Woods MUP has been my traditional riding ground for the last several weeks.

Watch out for deer and squirrels (let alone roller bladers and fishing poles - LOL!)

Here's the official map: Cook County Forest Preserve (http://www.fpdcc.com/tier3.php?content_id=68&file=map_68b)

Click on the map for the printable file.

Enjoy!

Edit: If I knew much earlier, it would've been great to join you, but alas, it's after 6pm, and I'm still at work. :(

If you have time to get out tomorrow morning before you leave, there's a nice 7 mile loop my club uses for it's group rides during the week. There's a Home Depot on the corner of Rt. 59 and Stearns Rd. You can park there.

Some nice little rollers on Munger Rd., especially in you ride it counterclockwise.

Edit: Is there a zoom feature on Routeslip?

Yes there is...it is on the map controls behind the menus on the left. Click the arrow on the edge of the menus and they will collapse showing the standard google map controls underneath. Really cranked me off figuring that one out...

Thanks for all the suggestions! As it turned out, I went for a small ride with the Elmhurst Bicycle Club. I'm not quite sure where we went on our 30 mile jaunt, but what a blast to be riding through parts of greater Chicago that I never knew even existed. dekalbSTEEL, what's the name of your club? My regional office is right next to Stratford Mall, so I am quite familiar with Schick Road. Next time I come down, I'll be sure to let you guys know well in advance, so we can cover your routes together. Thanks again!
