I am looking for a cheap/good source for bead blasting and powder coating. Preferably in the San Jose/Silicon valley area.

I got one quote of $50 for bead blasting a frame and $125 for powder coating

I have heard a rumor that Santa Cruz will powder coat your bead blasted fram for $40 or so (with the color they happen to be spraying)

thanks all

Purportedly, $75 for both a blast and coat from Maas Tech in Hayward -- I found this :

I need to get one done too and live right near you in Campbell -- maybe we could take both up in one trip?

I got two frames bead-blasted and powdercoated at Maas Tech about six months ago. It was $75 for frame and fork, and $60 if you just wanted the frame done. For that price level, if I'm remembering correctly, you have an option of maybe 50 colors or so. I think there are additional colors that you can get if you pay more. For $75, it was definitely worth it. Turnaround time was about a week or so. One thing -- they only take cash so when it's time to pay, don't arrive with just a credit card like I did...

Anybody know if A-1 Underground is still around and does anybody have a number/addy for them?
I looked around for them ( I live close by) and couldn't find their spot. I also lost the number I had for them.
Anybody also know if bead blasting aluminum is fine or not?
Thanks...

These folks were supposed to be pretty good: http://www.spectrumpowderworks.com/index.php

Never used them but someone from a forum recommended them and their paint jobs look totally cool.

For maybe less showy, there's these folks: http://www.smacpowder.com/OurWork.htm#

Another rec from someone

Just to close the loop on this -- I did get my frame and fork done at Maas tech. Price was as advertised, $75, they had it ready in a week like they promised, and it looks great. Before and After photos here:

I just had my frame stripped and powder coated at BR&F Spray in Santa Clara. $75, for frame only. The only reason I went to them was because Maas is too far and I can't make their business hours. Will post pictures and close ups later.

Now I have no idea the quality of Maas's service, but I personally is not too happy with BR&F. The main tubes and stays looks good. But the tube openings look crappy. the edges all have chips and missing paint.
