Commuting - tough blinkie

I'm riding along about 4:45 this am and hit a bump about 15 mph, anyway I hear something hit the pavement :( and I thought what the 3*&*&^^ was that? I stopped and looked back and there was my new cateye double row of lights eye melting blinkie laying in the road, still blinking by the way :) o I put it back on the strap of the bag and went on to work. I looked at it and not a scratch what a tough little guy. Today after I got home I bolted it onto the bracket of my rack where the back reflector was he'll be safe there I hope. Now I gotta get a new one for the roadie

Better than my experiences. My blinkies always turned off when they hit the ground. If I was lucky, it stayed in one piece. Several times had to walk back & forth moving my bars side to side for light to find all the parts & batteries but once reassembled it would blink merrily along until the next big bump.

I actually lost a blinkie on the road, and found it about 2 weeks later.
Damn thing still worked.

I a have one of those "quick release" blinkies. I took my seat stem off and slid two thin rubber bands through it before putting it back into the frame. Now I can secure tite and still be able to take it with me when I lock it up. You could just use a livestrong band or something similar and put it in the center. You may block "an" LED, but most of those bands are pretty translusent.

I understand not everyone mounts their blinkie on seat stems, but if you do...

The Nashbar blinkie is quite tough, and the best part is it doesn't bounce off easily when you're using it clipped onto a seat pack or bag. No other blinkie that I've owned has been able to do that. It's only $6 and has 5 RED LEDs.

I had a CatEye blinkie which was clipped to the loop of my saddle pack. Going down an incline at about 30MPH, I spotted a pothole so I naturally bunnyhopped it. Upon landing, I heard something clank onto the pavement behind me. I stopped and turned around to find the blinkie sitting in the middle of the road still flashing. However, the clip had snapped so it was now useless. :(
