Foo - Made redundant - a new start

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Crazy,
I was just made redundant. I am still in a state of shock. After one year of working, my project no longer had my position.
Please share some stories on similar experiences or those that you know about.
I am hoping to bounce back better than ever and want to really find something I love doing now. I also need a job pretty quickly though cause of $$$

The exact same thing happened to me when I worked for BMW/MINI. Exact same thing. It still bothers me to this day, but not nearly as much. I just made the mistake of getting comfortable with the perks of a high profile corporate position. Now I know that a company isn't a family, it's a business. If they can make more money by cutting you out of the picture, they will.
So be it. I started my own business. Now I'm the boss. It's good to be the king.

Happened to me just about two months ago, and I'm still not sure where to go next. Still looking at possibilities. Doubt I'll do as well financially as I did at the last post, but the way things are going, I'm starting to wonder if there'll even be a next one.

Heh sort of happened here too.
And it was 2 1/2 millioni dollars down the drain too :p I dont think they can continue on the project because when I was there we were the closest they had been in 2 years to having something working.
I'm back to working for myself and I'm not sure I care to go work for corporate again. Got myself a house. Just need to come up with a bit of money to pay the bills.

thanks guys, all the best for you. Some thinking music for me if you will please :)
I got "let go" once on the same day as the cleaning lady. It was a dot-com. 'Nuff said... :D
Best of luck in finding a new job, yendor! Having just been in job-hunting mode for about 6 months before finding something, I know that it can be very stressful -- keep at it and hope you find something rewarding. Definitely think about what you'd really like to do.
