Hi Folks,
I just discovered this forum. Man, am I glad I bought my bike BEFORE reading all of the opinions on this site! I might have bagged the whole idea. Just kidding. Actually, I consider cycling the greatest sport on the planet. We are definitely a select group of people. Blasting down the side of a mountain at 60mph is an experience hard to beat. I've done a great deal of skiing as well. But, in skiing at the high speeds, it's more like you're hanging onto your edges for dear life, while on a road bike it's a much more serene experience, almost relaxing. So, this is my story. I grew up in middle-of-nowhere northeast CT. I used to bike my butt off. Then I moved to the Big Apple, which is not a city favorable to biking (unless you leave it). I recently got hold of a car and did some research, realizing there is some fantastic cycling not too far outside of this city. As my call sign suggests, I just bought an Eddy Merckx and am about to hop back on the saddle after a much too long lay-off. I also have a Yo Eddy Team Fat Chance, which has treated me fine in the outback. That's about it for now. Take it easy and ride on!
