Track Cycling - National Championships

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just got home from the ADT Velodrome where the nationals are going on. The main race tonight was a 120 lap points race with sprints every 10 laps. I'm not sure if thats longer than normal, but man it seemed like it lasted forever. It was awesome.

120 laps is the official distance for the national championships, and we sometimes run them that long locally. Usually they're shorter because you're trying to fit 5 categories into an omnium with 3-4 races/category, and cram it into 3 hours or so.

120 laps = 30km = 18 miles or so at roughly 30mph...so still shorter than most crts.

But with sprints every 8 laps at up to 40 mph.
