Computers are a pain aren't they? Half the time I go to turn mine on I have to flip the euro hertz converter switch back and forth. I don't know why, but its the only way it will fire up sometimes. You would think that after all the years computers have been around, the modern ones wouldn't have so many problems.

BSOD, the computer's way of telling you to go outside and feed the pigeons some more minute rice.

This morning I was typing from my blackberry in the lab at work. Now, my work computer is back up and the genius IT guy refused to put a new hard drive in even though the only way he could get the machine to boot was with a different hard drive. He just reinstalled on the same hard drive.

Noow I have a blank computer again that I'll have to spend a day or two reinstalling all the software I need. The best part is that it was probably a hard drive problem and I'll probably be in the same boat again in a week or two. :(

Which blackberry do you have?

My dad has an older blackberry (it was actually blue, and it was a non color screen) and it is now out of commision and he is in the market for a new one. What his set up was, was his cell phone adn then blackberry because there were two different providers. (he paid for the blackberry, company paid for service) He asked his boss if he could just use verizon and run the same way and they said yes. So he can now put all of his stuff into one phone and have everything dandy.

I also brought up the treo phones because they are quite nice.

sorry for the thread jack :)

I have the latest and greatest....the 8700. When I was looking, Verizon didn't carry the 8700 yet. In fact, I was switching to T-Mobile and had to wait a month or so for the 8700 to be available for TMO.

The main reason I got the BB was because they don't have a camera. I can't have a camera cell phone at work....or I would likely have gone with the Treo instead.

I do really like it though.....but be warned, its designed for a PDA...so it is probably not a good choice for somebody who talks on the phone a lot. I hate that its so short I can't cradle it on my shoulder to talk if I need my hands for something.

This is true, we are going tommorow to see what he thinks about the phones, I want him to personally try them. At the same time he does have a Bluetooth headset that he will be able to use, so I hope he can stick with that.

We shall tommorow...

probably security reasons. I work in quite a few plants that are super hard on the no camera rule. In one if they catch you with a camera phone, you and the phone are escorted to the front gate and your badge is revoked. Others I can have a camera but I have to have a camera permit which in the one case is an 8x12 piece of bright orange cardboard and you have to have it visible at all times while using the camera. I suspect they can see it on the security cameras and will make sure you aren't taking pictures somewhere they don't want you to.;)

That would make sense...

wahoonc gave basics.

Essentially, I work for a company that is a defense contractor. We have many projects that require a security clearance and even those that don't are worried about "intellectual property". It's security....they don't want people to be able to "easily" take pictures of things at work.
