Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is it just me or are these "bike lanes" way too narrow?

Way way to narrow. And if I remember correctly they're too close to the curb also with no "trash" zone or gutter. And they dump you out onto one of those streets with no accomodations on the other side. It's been a contentious issue amongst the biking and planning communities and I think ABC did a brief article in their last newsletter (maybe Ron can shed more light).

Another example of planners, developers, and engineers who have no idea of the practical needs of bicyclists, regardless of their good intentions (or more likely lip-service for checking regulatory boxes and marketing the project).

I had the chance to ride across the bridge yesterday and I wound up taking the bus lane most of the way across.
