Well I may have exagerated it a bit. 5 stitches in my left forefinger and some unstitchable flesh torn on the thumb. I tried riding the upright and it was tearing up the bandages and stitches. Got on the bent and cruised no problem. I'm still glad I have this thing.

Ah the joys of tools. I was building something for my grandson and the drillpress grabbed the wood I was drilling. The wood spun around and whacked me on the thumb. I lost the nail yesterday. Ugggly!

Heck, I mangled my hand WHILE RIDING MY BENT!!:cry:

The worstest thing I did to meeself was when I was drilling out a bit of stainless steel. The drill bit broke and the drill bounced, coming to rest centered on my left thumbnail. Drilled a 1/8" hole, about that deep too.

Aren't power tools great?

Ouch :o . I havent had much run-ins with power tools, but once I was using a handgrinder, with no shirt on, but safety googles on, and the disc disintergrated and a slab of the disc slapped me in the stomach. It hurt alot :(

When I justify my current hobby to folks (bicycles) I describe one of the benefits as "no power tools involved at all". Heck, here is my standard plug:

You get to work with your hands. There are fun and challenging mechanical issues and puzzles with gears and *****. It's all hand tools -- no power tools at all. You get to go for rides on cool machines. When you're done with a project, you have wonderful little transportation device that can take you to the store, or the train station. It gets you outdoors into wonderful scenery. It gives you great exercise that is so much fun you hardly even notice the effort. You're saving the world in small increments by not emiting harmful exhaust gases. And you become healthier in both mind and body.

I think the pic with the words 'attatched thumbnails' above it is appropos... Reminds me of a joke: " Doc, after my hand heals, will I be able to ride a recumbent?..." "Why sure..." "Thats funny... I couldn't ride one before..."
