Recumbent - Giant Revive - I know it's a kludge

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Every now and then something just comes along. Today I bought a Giant Revive DX for $75 from a woman cleaning out her garage. I don't have any recumbents and I know this thing isn't really a recumbent either. It's actually quite fun as a novelty. I'm going to toss out the front wheel, put on V Brakes and put an electric bike kit on it. I think it would be a hoot as an electric bike.

There are some Revive owners on Bike Forums who are very happy with their bikes.

What a deal!

My LBS can barely keep them in stock at $599 each.

I would have been thrilled to make that find. I think my wife would really like riding on one. I'm trying to get her to go in and take a test ride.

If you lived close to me, I'd offer you $150 for it.

If you are near Sacramento, I'll buy your revive for $175

I ended up selling it because, while it was kind of cool, it was too heavy and slow. It did push me into trying other recumbent bikes though.

Guess there are many ways of being introduced into the comfortable world of recumbent bikes.
