Commuting - Conti Ultra Sport vs. Vittoria Zaffiro? (27")

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am trying to decide between these comparably priced tires (~$15) for 27" rims. The tpi for each are very different: the Ultras have 84 tpi, while the Zaffiro have only 26. But the Zaffiro have puncture protection and the Ultras don't.
Which would be better for riding on city streets? Even though I don't usually ride very fast, I am especially concerned about grip on wet roads, and about cornering ability. I have an irrational fear of sliding out on turns (I'm still fairly new to riding road bikes).
Thanks for any thoughts!
The Conti Ultra Sport isn't made for commuting. You'll probably get a flat every other day. The kevlar reinforced may be ok.
From Conti website:
An attractive tread design and a choice of coloured treads can turn any race bike into a superb visual masterpiece. UltraSport tires make a stunning impact on every training ride and are ideal for newcomers to road biking. In addition to the UltraSport colour versions, the UltraSport Kevlar tire incorporates a Kevlar reinforced tread for extra protection against punctures.

+1, RonH: My Conti Ultra Sports had no Kevlar in them. They gave a nice rice when they weren't flat. I switched over to Specilized Armadillos and never looked back. 'Dillos have Kevlar from bead to bead - not just on the tread surface. The ride is harsher, and they require a high PSI to keep them from delaminating, so beware of trying to use them on an old non-hooked rim. They're not everybody's cup of tea, but they give excellent flat protection.
