It's behind clouds. Lots of them. I just broke out my telescope, too. I love this thing.

I believe there is an option available for that model, but I don't have it. I am going to make a mount for my camera, though. I've gotten pretty good photos just holding the camera up to the lens.

This moon was so red last year, I had to get a picture. Not bad for trying to hold the camera steady!

Yes, I'm bringing out my Russian 26x70 binocs.......perfect for the moon.

Here are my Moon Images from tonight. I just shot them with my digital through the eyepiece of my telescope in Macro Mode.

Sorry about the low resolution, but it's hard to get high res shots the way I did it! I wish I had some 35mm Technical Pan B&W film, I'd have done a 1 minute exposure at ISO15 and hand developed it. Talk about some detail then!

That was shot with a digital camera through the eyepiece of the telescope, like I said before! Surprised me how well it came out. I did have to drop the light level and increase the contrast, bit it came out pretty good for a $59.00 Walmart telescope and a digi jammed up to the eyepiece!http://dune.servint.com/uploads/f_eyebrows.gif

Because of the sun angle at this particular time of year and the fact that the sun is shining brightest on the face of any time of the year, causing a greater amount of reflected light. It's the "Harvest Moon", or also referred to as the "Hunters Moon".:p

Additional point, the moon follows an elliptical orbit and it is currently at Perigee (The closest point of the elliptical orbit tonight! It IS closer tonight by about 17,000 miles, 222,285 miles vs 250,000 avg.:p )
