I feel bad for the sorry sap who knows nothing about bikes, this add is an example of people lying through their teeth to try to make diamonds out of ****.

I'll let the add speak for itself but, first hint it's not exactly anything special, is do you think a very limited edition bike is gonna have the cool cardboard circle that goes in the spokes on the front wheels. I think not.

I know nothing about the bike but if you know the seller is trying to rip people off, post a follow up on craigs calling them on it.

Yeah..I've seen a lot of those on CL...but usualy for about 100$ less or more.
However, it's not a crime to rip people off if they're stupid enough to buy the thing.
The big scams I see in CL are in the employment ads.

Lots of people are making a ton of money buying and selling (for more) on the internet.
On the other side of the coin...I saw this..

P.T. Barnum was right! There's a sucker born every minute, and two to take him!

Caveat emptor. Know what you're buying. The greedy get what they deserve!

I saw them for sale at K-Mart, about 2 years ago. I remember the stupid OCC sticker.

CL is kinda crazy now. there are too many unemployed losers who just stalk the boards all day long. i avoid any ad with exclamation points, capital letters, or any indication of a "sales pitch".

Usually the ads with the "l@@k", the "!!!!11!!!!one", or other stuff mean that the person is a scammer, or just plain too brain damaged to buy/sell from. I wonder if a number of those people just are trying to collect names or E-mail addresses to sell to spammers or data miners.

There's a whole thread in the C&V Forum called Numbskull of the Day (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=234534). It focuses on classic and vintage bikes, but these certainly would qualify.

or if you list something in CL, i love the emails that say "i am wanting to make purchase for your product, please sending to my address your informations for payments of asking price from the transfer of monies through western union, thanking.. bob" there was a blog somehweres where a guy was messing with a CL scammer for like 3 or 4 months.
