I know im always asking questions about motorbikes on this forum, and surprise surprise i have another one. Because i just went and met the local driving instructor, and before wheni said i was going to get the RS50 they recommended that i shouldn't. Because its a geared bike and would cost alot if it breaks down. So they recommended a scooter until im 17. But the thing is i hate the sounds of screeching scooters. Which scooter would you recommend that not only looks good but is durable and doesnt sound like a new born baby.

Don't know a thing about scooters, but you can get a gas assist for a bicycle!

Get a 250-300cc sport bike. It's got like, 1/4th or 1/5th the power to weight ratio of a 1000cc so it's relatively safe to floor and easy to handle. I believe Lauren has one, you might wanna message him.. I mean her.

Scooters have a couple of things going against them:

- bad brakes
- crappy tyres
- negative power, there are situations you encounter where a quick spurt of acceleration gets you out of danger... QUICKLY, but scooters can still go faster than their brakes & tyres can handle
- crummy handling, very dangerous in emergency maneuvers
- non-existent cornering clearance
- death-rate for teenagers on scooters much, much higher than motorcycles

Get a small intro bike, a 250cc bike would be fine, fast enough to move around in traffic, yet has the brakes & handling to match as well. For whatever reason, you tend to be more aware and attentive in traffic on a motorcycle than a scooter ... The Japanese bikes are damn reliable, I wouldn't worry about manual-shifting being a concern.

My cousin's first bike was a 750cc. He was about 16. Only way to learn how to ride a motorcycle is to ride a motorcycle. Start off w/ something inexpensive so you don't feel too bad about laying it down or dropping it, then move up as you get more experience.

I would look at the Ninja 250. They are inexpensive, reliable, easy to repair and find parts for, and they have a good resale value.

Well i dont know if its defferent in USA but im from england and at 16 i can only get a 50cc. And i've concluded that it would be a waste to get an aprilia rs50 (what i was going to get) because a 16 year old is limited to 30mph and an aprilia is too expensive to keep at such a low speed. So now im getting a scooter preferably a peugeot jetforce c tech (wrc 307 maybe) but i dont know how i sounds which is troubling, because lik i said i dont really want a screecher.

Can't help ya there man, but i think honda and yamaha sell some good scooters from what i hear.

Get a 1986-1989 Honda Accord aka 3rd generation Accord's. I have one im almost 16 and trust me you will love this thing.

For a minor fee, you can borrow ghost rider's hayabusa. Only 500hp.

There's a hilarious video out there of his friend doing like 180 and he blows by him on the busa doing a wheelie at what looks like 200-210.

Ya, ghostrider is bloody amazing.

There is a 'busa in town with a extended swingarm, what looks to be a 220 or so rear tire and a straight pipe coming out one side, and god it sounds mean when it idles. Almost like it's going to cut out because of the cam, the thing must run on the souls of the damned.

Also, ghostrider doesnt use that bike anymore.
