i was in the sale section and it says you need a upgraded membership. Just wondering what that is.

You get a nice little red star by your name which lets everybody know that you like this forum enough to help support it. I think it's 25 a year and you can send check, paypal, etc.
It also lets you post stuff in sales section and advertising forum and etc. In addition to what Michigander said.
